24th November - Feast of Christ the King & Annual Meeting / Dreaming Day. The 8am and 10am services will observe Christ the King, the final Sunday in the liturgical year. The Annual Meeting of the parish will commence at approx. 12noon in the Buxton Hall, and will take place around a shared lunch, the parish barbecue, in the parish Hall. This will commence at approx. 12noon. The barbecue will be provided. Please bring salads to share. All parishioners are encouraged to attend. As soon as the business of the meeting is completed, we will commence the "dreaming day" or strategy and planning session, to be facilitated by Ms Sue Bazzana. Sue has extensive experience in the Diocese of Melbourne, and presently works for World Vision. She brings an outward, Gospel centered approach, and will encourage us to think big about making disciples and growing our church.

Nominations For churchwarden, vestry and the incumbency committee are now open, and are to be given to the vicar or the parish office before 4pm Friday 15th November. The nomination form is on the information table near the main entrance to the church.

Electoral Roll The parish electoral roll is being updated in advance of the Annual Meeting of the parish on November 24th. The current roll is available in the Church for parishioners to check to ensure they are enrolled. New application forms are also available for those who may wish to be added to the roll. Those entitled to be on the roll are any baptised person over the age of 18years, who is not a member of another parish or church, and who regularly attends worship at St John's, or at All Saints Kooyong.

Anniversary of death Due to the large number of people to be remembered each week, we will start including only those who have died in the last ten years. However if you would like a family member to remain on the list please advise the parish office.

A Candle is a sign..

..of our prayers and the offering of our lives in the service of Christ;

..of our prayers for others,

that they too might be strengthened in their faith and love of our Lord;

..and a symbol of all those who, through the ages, have shone as

lights in the darkness of the world, and of their prayers for us;

..and as a witness that this is

a place of prayer; a place where people have knelt in worship

through the centuries to acknowledge that the Child of Mary is also the Son of God.

‘God, our Father, source of eternal life,

fill the hearts of all believers With the light of faith.’

Amen

What happened at October’s Messy Church?

October’s Messy Church focused on the story of Jesus feeding the 5000 (Matthew 14:13-21). Kirsty read us a story from the bible and

explained that Jesus fed many people using just five loaves of bread and two fish. We sang some songs (including our favourite Messy Church song), showed off our best dance moves, played on our

musical instruments, and spent some time in prayer.

In the hall we had lots of things to make and do. We made our own baskets and decorated them with glitter and shells. We made our

own damper so that we could eat like Jesus’ disciples. We made our own stained glass windows and talked about how we’ll tell stories

through pictures. We really enjoyed playing together and seeing our friends again.

After playtime, we sat down to a delicious meal of fish and chips. I hope that the disciples enjoyed their fish and bread dinner as much

as we did! We then had some ice-cream and sprinkles for dessert, and went home with very full tummies!

Thank you to everyone who made October’s Messy Church so much

fun. We look forward to seeing you on December 1st for our Christmas spectacular!
