A Methodist Institution (Founded 1886) 27 February 2019 Dear Parents/Guardians As we celebrate the 133rd Founder's Day on 1st March, we thank God for His blessings and faithfulness for the school from year to year. God has continued to bless us richly with strong academic and co-curricular performances, and a strong community spirit. To God be the Glory. The Best is Yet To Be. GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Guidelines for School-Home Partnership

MOE has released a set of guidelines on the development of positive school-home partnerships. The guidelines are attached for your information. Through these guidelines, we hope that parents can work hand in hand with us to support our boys in learning self-management skills, taking responsibility and building resilience. Moving forward, we hope to build a stronger partnership with you to support the holistic development of your boys, and together, we can help them succeed in life.

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES 4. VIA Booklets for P1 and P2 Boys

As part of our Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) Programme, the Values In Action programme aims to develop our boys into socially responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to the community, through the learning and application of values, knowledge and skills.

We would like to invite you to partner with us as we seek to provide our boys with opportunities to reflect on their experience, the values they have put into practice, and how they can continue to contribute meaningfully. With the focus on ‘VIA starts with me’ for P1 and ‘VIA starts at home’ for P2, we encourage our boys to demonstrate and practise good values at home. Each of the boys will be given a VIA booklet at the start of Term 2 and through the course of Term 2, we seek your partnership to affirm your child’s demonstration of values at home by acknowledging his good behaviour in the booklet. The Form Teachers will collect back the VIA booklets from the boys in Term 2, week 10.

Our children do best when schools and parents work hand in hand to support them. Here are some tips to make this happen...

Help your child relate to others

Create a conducive home environment for your child to enjoy reading and to finish his/her homework by himself/herself.

Encourage your child to live a healthy, balanced life with time for sleep and play.

Work with the teachers to help your child respect differences and resolve disagreements amicably.

Let the school verify the facts in any incident before taking action to ensure a fair, objective outcome for all parties.

Help your child

succeed in lifeWork with the school to know and support your childHave regular conversations with teachers in both academic and non-academic areas – this will help you better guide your child’s development.

Check the teachers’ preferred mode of communication – they are not required to share their mobile numbers.

Understand that teachers may not be able to respond to your queries immediately.

Our children succeed when parents and schools work hand in hand.

Guide your child in managing his/her time.

Encourage your child to help out with household chores.

Help your child manage himself/herself

Help your child develop good habits

By having good home routines, you are setting your child up for life.

If you do your child’s homework, he/she will lose the opportunity to learn.

Set up a conducive home environment for your child to learn effectively.

By letting your child forget, you are helping him/her remember.

Ask the teacher for the best way to contact him/her.

Respect the teacher’s time, contact the teacher during school operating hours only.
