10. Innovations under Autonomy

Soft Skill training programme by Redington has been established in the college to

impart soft skill training to the students. Nearly 100 students were benefitted during

the academic year.

As a part of additional online courses the staff members and PG Students register

themselves to the appropriate courses suiting their discipline through NPTEL.

ICT enabled teaching improved

Implementation of technology based skilled papers.

Students were encouraged to participate in seminars and workshop organized by other

institutions to inculcate research.

Industrial institutional interaction has been strengthened.

3) Awareness Programme on “Voluntary Blood Donation” was organized at D Block,

Conference Hall on 01/07/2016. 120 YRC Volunteers participated. Dr. Latha

Lakshmi M.B.B.S., D.G.O., M.S(O.G)., was the chief Guest.

4) Blood Donation Camp was organized in the college campus on 22.7.2016. 30 Units of

Blood were donated to Adukkamparai Medical College and Hospital, Vellore.

5) ‘World Hepatitis Day’ was observed on 27.07.2016 Dr.B.Nandhini M.B.B.S., CMC,

triggered awareness about the disease. 400 YRC Volunteers took part.

6) HIV/ AIDS Awareness Programme were held on 09/08/2016 from 11.30 AM to 1.00

PM at D Block Conference Hall. Ms.Malliga Chandran, Director, WHEEL,

CITIZEN CONSUMER CLUB (CCC)

On 28/02/2017 District Level Intercollegiate CCC competitions were conducted.

8 colleges from Vellore district participated. Various competition were conducted and prizes

were given to the winners.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL

One day Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (19.07.2016- Tuesday) was

conducted at D.K.M. College for Women in association with Government of

Tamil Nadu Entrepreneurship Development Institute and Vellore District Micro

and Small Entrepreneurs Association (VDMSEA). Two hundred students

participated.

Entrepreneurship awareness camp for three days (18-1-17 to 20-1-17) was

conducted with the help of CED Tamil Nadu, Madurai, Partially funded by

Department of Science and Technology. The programme includes two days

technical session and one day industrial visit to Ambur Naidu hall garment

industry, Tannery, Effluent treatment plant and Ambur Sugar factory. Hundred

and fifty five final year students participated.

Imitation Jewellery Training Programme - MSME

Women development Cell conducted Imitation Jewellery Training Programme for 5

days from 29.08.16 to 02.09.2016 in collaboration with Central Palmgur and Palm

Producteds Institute, Kadhi and Village Industries commission, M/O MSME Govt. of India.

The Programme Inaugarated on 29.08.2016 at 10.00 a.m in Beauty academy hall.

Prof. R. Banumathy co-ordinator of WDC presented welcome address. On 02.09.2016,

valedictory function was held at 3 p.m Dr. P.N Sudha, Prinicipal DKM college for women

presided the function and distributed the certificates to the students. 38 students from various

department of aided and unaided stream participated and benefited from this programme.

Artificial Jewellery Making Training Program - DSMS

Women Development Cell conducted Artificial Jewellery Making Training program

for 3 days from 15th December 2016 to 17th December 2016 in collaboration with District

Supply and Marketing Society (DSMS), Vellore. The programme inaugurated on 15/12/2016

at 10 am in beauty academy hall, Dr. Banumathy Co-coordinator of WDC presented welcome

address.

On 17/12/2016 valedictory function was held at 3 p.m .Dr. P.N. Sudha, Principal

D.K.M college for women presided the function and distributed the certificates to the

students. 40 students from various department of unaided stream participated and benefitted

from this skill training programme.

Dr. R. Banumathy Associated professor of Economics and co-coordinator of WDC

presented vote of thanks. With this the program ended with great success.

Beautician Certificate Course

Women Development Cell inaugurated Beautician Certificate Course on

in Collaboration with Angel Beauty Parlour and Coaching Center for the aided and unaided

students. Dr.S.Mythili Associate Professor and Head, Department of Commerce inaugurated

the certificate course.

Students from Aided registered for the Basic course were 18 and from the unaided

stream were 19. Two students from aided registered for the Advanced course.

For the aided students classes were in the afternoon session and for the unaided students

classes were in the morning session for 8 days.

On the valedictory day 17-03-2017, Certificates distributed for the students.

Enviro Club

The Enviro Club in DKMC has started its 12th year of service to the students and

college.

Ms. K. Soundarya, II B.Sc., Zoology is the president. An income of Rs. 1,20,000/-

through cattle breeding , milk production, cultivating vegetables and greens using organic

manure.

The club is supporting more than 16 self help group women for the improvement of

their economical and social status.

A certificate course on “Solid waste Management” started under DKMC enviro club.

It is an add-on course running after College hours. More than 50 second year students of

various departments are undergoing this course.

Yoga and Meditation Club

All the Final year Zoology students attended the certificate course in Yoga for Youth

Empowerment in March. 2017. Conducted by the Faculties from Manavallakalai mandram,

Sangaranpalayam, Vellore.

Anti Ragging Cell

Antiragging cell co-ordinators of both day and evening college along with student

representatives attended the meeting convened by the district collector on 18.07.2016 at

Vellore collectorate. Regarding this further meeting was conducted on 27.07.2016 at 11.00am

in Principal’s office with H.O.D.s of all major departments and student representatives of

each class. Informed the students to follow the instructions regarding antiragging. There is a

suggestion box kept near the principal office to receive the grievances from the students.

Sports Activities

Participation in sports and games:

Our college team participated in all the sports and games conducted by the

Thiruvalluvar University and the selection trials by the sports development authority of Tamil

Nadu, Vellore District,

she got Rs.7500/- as cash award.
