Bank of Khartoum Group ambitious regional expansion strategy continues with the establishment of BOK International in the
United Arab Emirates in May 2017. While being the only foreign bank to be granted a full service commercial bank license by the
CBUAE in the past decade, at the initial stages, BOK Int'l will focus on providing wholesale banking services primarily including
correspondent banking, trade finance, corporate banking under the principle of Shariah. In parallel, the bank will gear efforts with
the aim to take a leading role as a financial intermediary in facilitating trade from the UAE and wider GCC into Sudan.
In less than one year, BOK International has already positioned itself solidly in the UAE market being a full member in Central Bank
of UAE AED payment and cheque clearance systems, gaining membership in UAE's Union Banking Federation, and establishing
banking correspondence with international banks.

Out of its high concern for preserving the environment, BOK launched the "Million Seedlings" project in cooperation with the "Consumer Protection Bureau". The project aimed to distribute and sow seedlings in different states of Sudan. Also, within the same framework of preserving the environment, BOK inaugurated a project for disseminating mosquito nets in order to fight mosquitoes and the diseases transmitted by them, in all states of Sudan. This project used to be launched annually through past years, but in 2017 its scope was considerably expanded due to the urgent need of citizens in many regions which were affected by floods, and, hence, an increase in the reproduction of mosquitoes and flies. Within the framework of funding health programs,
Bank of Khartoum Panorama 2017Corporate Social Responsibility
Serving the community is a priority
The year 2017 was full of achievements and positive development in all aspects targeted by the Bank of Khartoum (BOK). A number of reports dealing with the performance of economic and financial institutions in Sudan highlighted the advances made by BOK in terms of technology, banking services, and increasing the number of branches in all states of Sudan. In addition, BOK launched several projects which have contributed to social stability and peace within the framework of its corporate social responsibility which has become an important component of the Bank's list of priorities. In the following space, we will review some of the corporate social responsibility projects launched by BOK during the last few months.
Health Education Campaign
Within the framework of BOK's concern with the health of its employees, the senior management, in coordination with "Samā Sudan Institution for Development and Healthcare" launched a campaign for health education and vaccination against hepatitis. The campaign included educational lectures, and all employees were vaccinated against hepatitis, as a first phase - the second phase will be vaccination of all of the employees' families. In doing so, BOK attempts to provide a healthy work environment. The campaign continued for about three months, and employees and their families expressed their appreciation for the campaign and the achievement of its objectives aiming to raise health awareness. The initiative reflects BOK's senior management's concern for its employees both at the professional and health levels.
Water Stations… Peace and Stability

This was evident in offering many services which had a positive impact on contributing to the stability of many citizens in their respective areas, in terms of social and humanitarian dimensions. BOK funded the drilling of many water wells and installing water tanks and their necessary facilities in a number of localities in Northern Darfur State. The areas provided with these vital projects included Zamzam refugee camp, Guzu village and Al-Kouma village in Al-Fāshir Locality. long because of the scarcity of water, as they had to bring it from distant areas – a chore which required a lot time and effort, hampering work for the elders and study for the youngsters. It is a known fact that these areas frequently witness unstable conditions due to disputes on water between farmers and shepherds. The water projects were executed in coordination with the International Charity Organization for Water (ICOW). The installed groundwater stations offered high productivity in order to cater for the densely populated areas, and the desperate need of the citizens for water for drinking and grazing. A consequence of this was that aspirations of the local citizens increased and they requested founding micro-finance projects to increase their income; BOK responded by offering micro-finance loans as a new phase in social development dictated by the Bank's social responsibility. These projects augmented BOK's image in the minds of the citizens of Northern Darfur State in the dominant economic sectors: agriculture, grazing and trade.

Funding Initiatives and Social Programs
BOK has always been concerned with the initiatives which are directed to offering services to the society, and reflecting noble values. Such initiatives are best manifested during the month of Ramadān, in which the Bank of Khartoum has, for years, been donating "iftār" food for fasting Muslims in students' hostels, hospitals, and some other areas and institutions. Besides, one of the BOK's priorities is offering social services to its former employees.
