HITTING A HIGH NOTE IN MUSIC CITY
A great time was had by all at the Wildhorse Saloon on February 12 during our annual benefit concert at the International Roofing Expo in Nashville. This was our largest event yet, raising over $175,000 to support our mission to help veterans and military families! Jacob Schick, founder and CEO of non-profit partner 22Kill, shared his incredible personal story along with how his organization addresses veteran suicide and mental well-being issues. Jake’s moving testimony brought the crowd to their feet, and featured artists Leith Lolftin, Turnpike Troubadours and Lee Brice brought the house down. We are deeply grateful to all of our generous customers, suppliers and other friends who helped raise record support for SRS Raise the Roof Foundation and our mission to help veterans and military families!

RELIEF FROM DISASTER DEVASTATION
2019 was marked by tornadoes and massive flooding across several parts of the country, bringing the devastating effects of natural disasters to the forefront of the daily news. Support from SRS Raise the Roof Foundation helped provide our partner agencies, Minuteman Disaster Response and All Hands and Hearts – Smart Response with needed resources to assist in disaster relief efforts.
All Hands and Hearts continued their hurricane rebuilding and restoration programs in North Carolina, Florida and Texas. Minuteman focused on helping several rural communities in the South Central U.S. Both organizations offered aid to Oklahoma flood victims with every phase of relief and recovery, including mucking and gutting, cleaning up debris and sanitizing homes and businesses. Raise the Roof is proud to assist both of these agencies to provide hope and natural disaster response to hundreds of our neighbors in communities across the country.

HOPE AND HEALING FOR WOUNDED WARRIORS
Reuniting wounded warriors with their family members during periods of hospitalization or rehabilitation is the mission of our partner agency, Luke’s Wings. Families are flown free of charge to join their veterans so they can help with the physical and emotional healing needed to assist in their recovery. They also provide flights to families of veterans on hospice care to bring them together during that painful, yet precious time. SRS Raise the Roof Foundation celebrated and honored these veterans and family members at Luke’s Wings annual Heroes Gala in Washington DC on April 27. Because of the generosity of our donors, we helped provide over 700 free flights this year to help our veterans and their families stay strong and connected.

CARRY THE LOAD
On Memorial Day weekend, over two dozen employees and family members representing SRS Distribution and SRS Raise the Roof Foundation attended the Dallas Carry The Load opening ceremony and Memorial March as part of the 22Kill tribe. Carry The Load is a non-profit dedicated to providing active, meaningful ways to honor and celebrate the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes - military, veterans, first responders and their families. Team SRS was honored, humbled and proud to participate in this event to help Carry The Load in their mission in bringing all Americans together to honor our nation’s heroes every day.

COMMUNITY OF CARE FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES
SRS and our Raise the Roof Foundation are committed to ensuring a healthy and positive future for children and families in our communities. Our relationship with two key partners is instrumental in fulfilling that commitment. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) promotes and protects the best interests of children who are removed from their homes due to severe abuse or neglect. Their specially trained CASA volunteer advocates serve as the children’s voice within the court system. This year, CASA of Collin County served close to 700 children. The ultimate goal of CASA is to decrease the time a child spends in foster care, prevent re-abuse and most importantly, ensure safe, permanent and loving homes for these children.
The Samaritan Inn is another important partner serving children and families in crisis. They offer hope to homeless individuals and families with a pathway to help them gain dignity and transition out of homelessness. The Samaritan Inn provides a comprehensive program of self-sufficiency and life skills to their clients. Any given night, about 160 people sleep at the Inn, 1 out of 3 who are children. On July 25, we hosted a Christmas in July donation drive for household supplies and gift cards for their residents. SRS Raise the Roof Foundation is proud to support CASA of Collin County and the Samaritan Inn not only financially but also through service of SRS employees as volunteers for them both.

“SOS” RESPONDS TO SHOOTING DISASTERS
On August 3 and 4, disasters struck the communities of Dayton OH and El Paso TX. Not the kind of natural disasters generated by Mother Nature, but horrific disasters generated by mass shootings. Twenty-two shoppers died in an El Paso Walmart. Nine others were killed while out for the evening in a Dayton entertainment district. August 31, another shooting in Midland and Odessa TX claimed the lives of an additional seven people. Dozens of others were injured in these three shootings. SRS Raise the Roof Foundation sent out a heartfelt SOS to our employees requesting support for the victims and families affected by these man-made disasters. In a matter of weeks, we raised $50,000 to help provide our neighbors in Dayton, El Paso and Midland/Odessa with resources for the relief and recovery they so desperately needed.

NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY
On September 19, 2019, SRS Raise the Roof Foundation participated in its first ever North Texas Giving Day. For years, this very special event has been the largest giving day in the country every year, raising tens of millions of dollars for thousands of nonprofit organizations that serve individuals in North Texas. With a theme of Texas PROUD, individual supporters of Raise the Roof including SRS employees, vendors and friends from across Texas donated close to $5000 in a fast and frenzied 18 hours of giving! We share our deep gratitude to everyone who gave generously to show we are Texas PROUD about our mission in the Lone Star state.

LOVING THE LINKS AT OUR FALL GOLF CLASSIC
What an amazing day we had on September 30 at the beautiful Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco TX for our 7th annual Fall Golf Classic presented by Briggs Equipment! In addition to welcoming back our Platinum, Gold, Silver and numerous other level sponsors this year, we were also delighted to have a dozen new organizations join us through their sponsorships for our 2019 event. A record number of golfers came out and helped raise over $380,000 to make for a great day of golf and generosity. IKO’s team #1 was excited to win the Grand Championship. Our generous sponsors, players, volunteers, and committee members helped make this a September to remember with an enormously successful and fun event to support our mission.

LADIES LEAD THE WAY FOR NEW INITIATIVE
The SRS Women’s Leadership Forum teamed up with SRS Raise the Roof Foundation on a new initiative to help women escape domestic violence. Our lady leaders partnered with Kendra Scott jewelry to host a total of five Kendra Gives Back events in 2019. Beginning with the Women’s Big Event in Charleston SC, they also included a statewide event in North Carolina hosted in Charlotte and Texas-based events at various locations in McKinney and Fort Worth. Kendra Scott donated 20% of all sales at each of these parties with a purpose to support victims of domestic abuse through the Purple Purse project. This initiative, endorsed by National Women in Roofing, helps abused women gain financial independence to enable them to leave their abusers.

HOLIDAY HELPING HANDS A HUGE SUCCESS
SRS Corporate team members joined hands and hearts with SRS Raise the Roof Foundation in the spirit of giving during the holiday season to help three area nonprofit partners. Multiple corporate departments collected 250 pounds of food in November to donate to the Canned Fruit Drive for the Kids benefiting the Community Food Pantry of McKinney. Following Thanksgiving and into early December, individual employees and departments made the holidays brighter for children on the CASA of Collin County Angel Tree by fulfilling the wish lists of 50 children ranging in age from infants to teens. Our corporate team continued to give generously to make holiday magic come true for children served by the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County with donations of toys and gift cards for their annual Holiday Shop. Employees also gave their time to volunteer to set up the Holiday Shop for Santa and his elves! At SRS, we love to Give Back to our community during the holidays and all through the year!
