“I'm immensely thankful that I finally was able to meet
the man that I admire so much, Secretary of Housing
and Urban Development, (HUD) Julian Castro. Thank
you CHCI for this amazing opportunity. After this
program, I will inspire my family, other students, and
our community to see themselves as leaders.”

Developing the Next Generation of Latino Leaders®
“Before coming to D.C., I thought I
could be a leader. Thanks to CHCI, I
left feeling like one. R2L NextGen has
been a wonderful experience that I will
cherish for the rest of my life.”

“While in D.C., I took note of how much more complicated and intricate our
government is than I had originally thought. Even then, CHCI has inspired me to
be more hands on, which is why upon my return to Chicago I plan to schedule a
meeting with the mayor to discuss public school reform.”

will all be covered through the support of State
Farm®, regional fundraising, and CHCI.
“The R2L NextGen program provided me with a unique
and enriching experience in the realm of civic engagement
that I couldn’t have received in any other place. The
program tested my boundaries by exposing me to areas
outside of my comfort zone and provided me with
guidance and assurance that I could do greater things.”
