Drapers’ Academy Sixth Form opened in 2012 to provide outstanding teaching and opportunities for all our students.

Our first set of students completed their A Level results in the summer of 2014. We are delighted to see 82% of these students continue on to higher education studying both undergraduate degrees and art foundation courses. The Sixth Form has continued to grow and in January 2014 we received a record number of applications that exceeded our places available.

The excellent teaching and learning environment within the Academy are the key ingredients of our success. We provide 1:1 tutorial sessions, dedicated teachers and pastoral support to guide our students through the transition period from GCSE to A Level and beyond.

Alongside academic success we also encourage our students to think about how they can enhance their development, as they become a young adult, through engaging

in our Sixth Form enrichment activities. Our students have the opportunity to complete the Duke of Edinburgh Award, represent the Sixth Form in sporting events and take part in the film club.

As a part of the Drapers’ Multi-Academy Trust we receive an incredible amount of support from our sponsors, The Drapers’ Company and Queen Mary University of London. We work together to provide academic excellence in a supportive environment. With these sponsors, a guaranteed place is available to all Drapers’ Academy students at Queen Mary University of London provided they achieve the entry requirements.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for considering Drapers’ Academy and if you would like any further information on our Sixth Form please do not hesitate to contact me [email protected].

Opportunities for Success

We aim to broaden the horizons of all our students by engaging them in learning beyond the curriculum.

We want our students to take advantage of all the opportunities available to them ranging from working with Princes’ Trust, Teach First HEAPS and The Oxford and Cambridge University sponsored UNIQ and Sutton Trust Summer Schools. We encourage the students to establish their own clubs and societies such as the Debating Society which is assisted by Deputy Head of Sixth Form, Mr Bryant.

Our aim is that all students will leave well equipped for the next stage of their lives, whether it is university, an art foundation course, a job or a ‘gap year’.

The students in the Sixth Form will be carefully guided through the whole process of university and career applications. They have the opportunity to work with members of The Drapers’ Company from a variety of professions and have the opportunity to take part in work shadowing in a field relevant to their future.

Students are expected to be leading role models within the Academy and wider community. They will have the opportunity to run and organise important clubs and visits in the Academy such as the School Council and House System events.

‘Students also speak very positively of the wider opportunities they have been given’
