On Saturday, October 25 th , 2014, we celebrated the 26 th Annual Santa Teresita Gala, an event that brings together many friends and benefactors of the Carmelite Sisters to further our mission of being “At the Service of the Family for Life!”. Over 300 guests participated in this memorable evening, which was more like a “family gathering.” e evening started off with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, a Silent Auction in Madonna Hall, then more festivities in the large reception tent set up on the green lawn. A special program was presented to our guests, consisting of a video entitled “Every Life Maers”, which showed clips of the vibrant life led by our beloved residents, as well as their sharing of a very deep spiritual life reaped only by many years of suffering united in faith, hope, and love in our Lord Jesus Christ. An in memoriam concert was given by the Carmelite Sisters in honor of four of Santa Teresita’s long-time beloved friends who had recently passed away; Mr. Joseph T. Nally, Dr. Richard Vanis, Debra Spiegel, and Walter J. Conn. How beautiful it was to share a night of friendship, joy, faith, and good food, as we joined with our co-workers to further our mission of serving our beloved elderly at Santa Teresita now and for many more years to come! Viva! Santa Teresita! As we near the special holiday of anksgiving, we recall and give thanks to God for the many blessings He bestows upon us, especially for the giſt of our lives. Married love particularly reveals its true nature and nobility when we realize that it takes its origin from God, who “is love,” the Father “from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named.”

Marriage, then, is far from being the effect of chance or the result of the blind evolution of natural forces. It is in reality the wise and provident institution of God the Creator, whose purpose was to effect in man His loving design. As a consequence, husband and wife, through that mutual gift of themselves, which is specific and exclusive to them alone, develop that union of two persons in which they perfect one another, cooperating with God in the generation and rearing of new lives…This love is above all fully human, a compound of sense and spirit. It is not, then, merely a question of natural instinct or emotional drive. It is also, and above all, an act of the free will, whose trust is such that it is meant not only to survive the joys and sorrows of daily life, but also to grow, so that husband and wife become in a way one heart and one soul, and together attain their human fulfillment. (Humanae Vitae, #8 and #9)

Pope Francis beatified Blessed Pope Paul VI on Sunday, October 19, 2014, at the closing of the Extraordinary Synod of the Family.
