Greetings, Talofa Lava, Tena Koutou

The World Sleep Society has developed recommenda-

tions on how to obtain a healthy restorative sleep. The

Ten Commandments for Children's Sleep (ages birth

to 12 years):

1. Go to bed at the same time every night,

preferably before 9.00pm.

2. Have an age appropriate nap schedule.

3. Establish a consistent bedtime routine.

4. Make your child’s bedroom sleep conductive –

cool, dark and quiet.

5. Encourage your child to fall asleep independently.

6. Avoid bright light at bedtime and during the

night, and increase light exposure in the morning.

7. Avoid heavy meals and vigorous exercise close to

bedtime.

8. Keep all electronics, including televisions,

computers, and cell phones out of the bedroom

and limit use of electronics before bedtime.

9. Avoid caffeine, including many sodas, coffee, and

teas (as well as iced tea).

10. Keep a regular daily schedule, including

consistent mealtimes.

Notices

We have an opportunity to raise funds this year at the Balloons over Waikato on the 24th of March. The Pukenui PSG will run the stall like last year. We had an amazing stall and it was very successful selling out of nearly everything we had! We are asking if our Pukenui whanau can contribute towards the stall by bringing in baked goods to sell and an Easter egg to put towards an Easter egg raffle. The raffle will be drawn on the night. Children who bring any goods will go into a classroom draw to win a voucher to spend at our stall. Each class will be given a voucher to draw. We appreciate any support and contributions given.

Waikato Bay of Plenty Football (soccer)

This term Pukenui School has had the opportunity to have Scott Parsonage from WaiBop Football and Vicki Coll from Project Energise in our school, teaching all the students football skills and playing fun football games. We have an opportunity for all children in the Year 3 and 4, Year 5 and 6, Year 7 and 8 age groups to play in a one off 5 a side football tournament on Sunday 2nd April at Centennial Park. The first games go from 10am-2pm. There is no cost to the tournament. This is a once off Football tournament and isn’t a replacement for our school Saturday football or winter sports teams. We would need parents to support and supervise each team on the day. A permission slip for this tournament has been sent home with the students today. Thank you for your support.
