We catalyze efforts and seek a solution for

coordinating application of measures for high-

priority, hard to measure interpersonal

and intrapersonal competencies.

We co-invest in high priority projects

enabling our partners to achieve a larger return on their investments and make a deeper impact in the field.

We coordinate operations for

promoting collaboration,

facilitating dialogue and sharing

information among members.

Catalyze Co-invest Coordinate

To thrive in life, young people need to master competencies beyond academics. Funders launched FCIM in 2015 in response to this need.

Specifically, FCIM invests in five core areas of action to support forward progress towards it’s goals

▪ Develop a national research and innovation hub envisioned for the ongoing development and application of valid and reliable measures for both researchers and practitioners

Research and Innovation

1

To create valid and reliable measurements tools that meet the needs of and are used well by, educators, policymakers and researchers for accountability, improvement and knowledge-building to

support learning and development for all youth to thrive and succeed.

• Create a coherent and scientifically-grounded taxonomy of the competencies designed to link terms across frameworks

Taxonomy 2

▪ Support key stakeholders in the appropriate use of practical measures for continuous improvement and accountability

Use3

▪ Enable appropriate use of competency measures and support Federal, state and local policymakers to recognize the benefits and drawbacks of valid and reliable measures

Policy 4

▪ Create capacity to support outreach and opportunity to engage and participate in the dialogue about the development of measures and to communicate the value of interpersonal and intrapersonal development as a priority in our youth-serving systems.
