Label Size & ShrinkLabel Size & ShrinkPercentagePercentage

Step 1: Determine Lay Flat & Shrink %Needed

Measure (with a Caliper) the smallest &largest diameters of the container

Label “Lay Flat” = LargestCircumference divided by 2 and add3mm.

Shrink % is difference betweenlargest and smallest diameter orcircumference.

Step 2: Determine Cut Length (Repeat)

Take a flexible ruler and measure alongthe containers contour the distance fromthe top of the container, where you wantthe label to start, to the bottom, where youwant it to end

Build in clear area (top & bottom) for thecustomer’s applicator to read as an eye-mark for cutting purposes

4 mm clear (2 mm top & 2 mm bottom) isthe industry standard. This may vary if thecustomer supplies specifications.

A digital printed sleeve is a source for developmentas well as sales samples and photo shoots.

Technology is making great strides into the area ofshrink compensation or warping software

Art Development:Art Development:Shrink Compensation & DistortionShrink Compensation & Distortion

– Shrink Labels require a distortion or compensationof graphics so when it conforms to the containershape logos and graphic elements appear correct.

– Take into affect the container shape whendesigning.

– A printed grid pattern is a tool that will give datahow the sleeve is forming to the container. It willshow patterns of distortion areas either to avoid orleave room for compensation of the graphics.
