❖Chandrayaan 2 is an Indian lunar mission
boldly attempted to go where no country
has ever gone before — the Moon's south
polar region.
❖ Through this effort, the aim is to improve
our understanding of the Moon —
discoveries that will benefit India and
humanity as a whole.
❖ These insights and experiences aim at a
paradigm shift in how lunar expeditions
are approached for years to come —
propelling further voyages into the farthest
frontiers.
Kudos to ISRO – Inching towards the edge of d iscovery!

Dear Readers,
I believe the ideal leaders of today must not only have strong
technical skills but also have strong emotional intelligence/Quotient which
we normally coin it as EQ. Over the recent times, EQ is observed as one of
the very important quality by many organizations. By and large, the
companies prefer to board a person with high emotional intelligence and
an average technical skills, may be rather a person who is savvy only in
technical area.
I also trust EQ is essential for a leader because the success of the
organization depends on how well this leader connects with his/her
employees to achieve the common goal. It is the leader’s social skills and
motivation which will make the people at work to give their best. Having
said that, would always like to be reminded of these three legendries of our
country, Gandhiji, Karmaveerar Kamarajar and Dr. Kalam.
‘King maker’ K. Kamaraj(1903 - 1975)
‘Mahatma’ Gandhi(1869 - 1948)
‘Missile magician’ Dr. Kalam(1931 - 2015)

❖ Process audits focus on specific activities or organizational units.
❖ Examples include engineering, marketing, calibration,
inspection, discrepant materials control, corrective action, etc.
❖ Processes are organized, value-added manipulations of inputs that
result in the creation of a product or service.
❖ Process audits compare the actual operations with the documented requirements
of the operations.
❖ Process audits should begin with an understanding of how the process is supposed to
operate. A process flowchart is a useful tool in helping to reach this understanding.
❖ It has been said that a good reporter determines the answer to six questions: who?
what? when? where? why? and how? This approach also works for the process
auditor.

For each important process task, ask:
Who is supposed to do the job? (Are any credentials required?)
❖ What is supposed to be done?
❖ When is it supposed to be done?
❖ Where is it supposed to be done?
❖ Why is this task done?
❖ How is this task supposed to be done?
The documentation should contain the answers to every one of these questions. If it doesn’t, the
auditor should suspect that the process isn’t properly documented. Of course, the actual process
should be operated in conformance to documented requirements.

❖ Help employees better understand the need for the change and the rationale behind the
decisions, as well as the ways the change may affect them.
❖ Ensure that your change management team includes change champions who can help
spread positive messages about the change, as well as take the temperature of employee
reactions to the change.
❖ Provide strong support for the changing environment, such as ensuring that managers are
provided with the training and information they need to answer employee questions.

What Exper t ’s say about Cost of Poor Qual i ty!
D. Cost of Qual i ty & Monitoring Object ives
❖ The costs of doing a quality job, conducting quality improvements, and achieving goals must be
carefully managed so that the long-term effect of quality on the organization is a desirable one. These
costs must provide a true picture of the quality effort, and they are best determined from an analysis of
the costs of quality. Such an analysis provides a method of assessing the effectiveness of the
management of quality and a means of determining opportunities, savings, problem areas, and action
priorities. Many organizations will have true quality-related costs as high as 15 to 20 percent of sales
revenue of total operations.
❖ A general rule of thumb is that costs of poor quality in a well managed company will be about 10 to 15
percent of operations. Effective quality improvement programs can reduce this substantially, thus
making a direct contribution to profits. The quality cost system, once established, should become
dynamic and have a positive impact on the achievement of the organization’s mission, goals, and
objectives. Continual improvements need to be made in reducing the cost of quality and achieving
Zero Defects.
