THE GLOBAL ECOSYSTEMS TOURAPES – CHAPTERS 6, 7, 8You will work with your group to design an INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCE tour of your assigned global ecosystem (terrestrial or aquatic).

Over the next 2 weeks, you will use class time to create an INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCE of visiting the ecosystem in your assigned section of S Building hallways. The experience you create must address the following CORE content and requirements below, but you are free to elaborate and GET CREATIVE from there! You will be assessed on a final 10 minute presentation, where guest judges will walk through and tour your ecosystem, using the attached rubric. They should leave their tour informed, educated about the course content and excited to visit again! (See Grading below for more details)

CORE CONTENT:

Location of ecosystem identified on map (specific name of country; city; area of world; latitude and longitude)

Climate of ecosystem (TERRESTRIAL - average temperature/precipitation; AQUATIC – Salinity, temperature, light level)

Types of vegetation/producers found (3 specific names – including one endangered or threatened species)

Types of animals/fauna found (3 specific names – including one endangered or threatened species)

2 specific adaptations (one plant and one animal) of the organism for living in your particular ecosystem

Soil content/characteristics (TERRESTRIAL) / Q include how it affects vegetation

Economic and Ecological Importance of this biome globally Human impact on this ecosystem – 2 specific causes and effects Specific Laws to protect this ecosystem/organisms found there – Name

of law, date instituted, summary of law’s purpose

REQUIREMENTS:

All group members must participate in class time preparation AND final 10 minute presentation of core information. Assigned hallway section should reflect biome features, using only recyclable or reusable decorations. (PARENT HOURS FOR DONATIONS OF ITEMS!!!) Tour through ecosystem must be led by “Tour Guides”, facilitating the tour around the core requirements for guest judges. All group members will score other group members confidentially in their contributions to the project. This individual grade will be factored in with group grade and classwork grade.NO STAPLES IN WALL!
