(Proverbs 25:11 ESV) What image comes to mind when you think of apples of gold in a setting of silver? Do you envision a masterful centerpiece welcoming all guests to the table of delightful fellowship with a delicious meal and heart warming conversation? Or do you think of a silver bowl filled with golden apples inviting all who come into its presence to enjoy its beauty and rest for a while in the tranquility of the peaceful beauty it presents? But the focus of this verse is not the apples surrounded by the silver. No, this great beauty and richness is like unto something else. What could compare to such imagined beauty? Words. But more than words. Words fitly spoken. But what are such words? As one has said, Words spoken in due consideration of time and circumstance. Or, in circumstances that suit it.Cards are such Apples of Gold”. We choose the words or the card that seem to us to fit the circumstance of the one to whom we are sending. We hope the words and the card itself will bring peace, joy, comfort or whatever is needed to the one who is on our mind and in our heart. Thank you, ladies especially, for the abundance of cards sent by you. -Dewayne

Apples of Gold

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver. As one has said, “Words spoken in due consideration of time and circumstance.” Or, “in circumstances that suit it.” Cards are such “Apples of Gold”. -Dewayne

Love

1 Corinthians 13:1 If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.

1 Corinthians 13:2 If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing.

1 Corinthians 13:3 If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.

1 Corinthians 13:4 Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn't want what it doesn't have. Love doesn't strut, Doesn't have a swelled head,

1 Corinthians 13:5 Doesn't force itself on others, Isn't always "me first," Doesn't fly off the handle, Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,

1 Corinthians 13:6 Doesn't revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,

1 Corinthians 13:7 Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end. (The Message)

God, The Creator

Eric Gott

Many of you know that one of my biggest passions is art and oil painting. For me there is something exciting to build a large canvas, prime it, and prepare to begin a new painting. Starting with nothing but wood, canvas, and paint, an artist can turn the canvas into anything imaginable. I love the process of painting. Every painting of mine begins with rough outlines, time spent mixing oils and colors, and ultimately making many mistakes. Yet the process of painting is a journey and mistakes are part of the activity. Because of my hobby of painting, I have always found it fascinating that the first time we encounter God in the Old Testament we meet him as The Creator. The perfect Artist. The creation story tells us that out of nothing God made everything, and it was GOOD. Almost every artist takes inspiration from nature and we have our God to praise for the beauty he has created. He made no mistakes and He made every thing just right. Remember that the Creator made you. He made you in His image and he did not mess up. This week take time to praise God for the beauty and power of His creation.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; you works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14

We will have a meeting for ALL Parents of current 6th - 12th graders on Sunday evening, January 27, to discuss the Spring and Summer Calendar of Events. YES...Parents of 6th Graders are invited, too, because we promote at the end of Spring Quarter. We really need all parents to attend. This will also be the time that parents get to sign up for all Spring and Summer events. I could not be more excited for the opportunities that await us all in 2019. Scott Pruitt
