    3 General Notes

3.1 Appropriate UseThe appliance IPS 10 000 combines the proven and extended VideoIP software SMAVIA Recording Server with a reliable and high-performance server hardware.Best matched components ensure high storage speed and thus allow the recording of up to 100 HD video channels in real-time. The integrated RAID 6 storage system already provides a high storage capacity and can be expanded by a external SMAVIA Enterprise JBOD extension. Thereby this appliance is the optimal recording system for large video installations in stadiums, shopping malls, casinos or convention centers.

3.2 WarrantyThe terms and conditions valid at the signing of the contract shall apply.

4.1 Required ComponentsThe following components are required, in order to be able to use an IPS 10 000 with a SMAVIA Enterprise JBOD extension.

    • IPS 10 000 Appliance with mounted MegaRAID Controller Board (see below)• SMAVIA Enterprise JBOD extension• At least six SATA HDDs of identical construction for mounting in the JBOD extension• Cable (SFF-8088 auf SFF-8088) to link the devices

4.2 RequirementsIn order to be able to use an IPS 10 000 with a SMAVIA Enterprise JBOD extension, both devices have to meet certain requirements:

    • Only SATA HDDs are supported, when using both devices together.• The storage capacities of the HDDs used in the IPS 10 000 and the JBOD extension

can be different, but have to be same in the respective device.• MegaRAID Controller Board including Battery Backup Unit (BBU-08) has to be

mounted in the IPS 10 000

The RAID Controller Board in the IPS 10 000 is only available ex factory. The Battery Backup Unit serves the power supply of the cache in case of a short term power cut, and has to be switched after 36 months. New BBU-08 are available as option.

    • A viable license for the usage of the software interface for connecting the SMAVIA Enterprise JBOD extension is needed on side of the recorder.
