Apprenticeships:
Work, Earn and Learn
What is an apprenticeship?
A fantastic way to gain a qualification and earn a wage at the same time
Apprentices should be 16 years or over
You will be working for at least 30 hours per week
You get a minimum weekly wage of £3.80* an hour – but some employers may pay more
You are based in your own workplace and have additional training through Uxbridge College.
On average apprenticeships are 12 months long, however, they do vary according to the subject and your own starting point.
*This rate is for apprentices aged 16 to 18 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year from April 2018. All other apprentices are entitled to the National Minimum Wage for their age.

Your assessor and work place mentor provides specialist support
Most apprentices come into college, usually for one day per week
End Point Assessment
Why become an apprentice?
Apprenticeships are an opportunity to build up work experience and gain knowledge of the
work environment. In comparison to a "just qualified” graduate you will have 7 years more
experience.
A Level 3 Apprenticeship qualification is recognised by future employers as the equivalent
of 2 A Levels A-C.
You earn a wage, get a recognised qualification and do not build up tuition fee debts.
It is a great way to start your career and can lead to many paths and opportunities in
various roles across your chosen sector.
