Our Mission: Providing Support and Encouragement for Musical Opportunities

A Note From The President I hope you are enjoying the return of spring (we will

just pay no attention to April 14/15). Thank you for

all of your support during this past school year - but

we are not done yet! Please check out the volunteer

opportunities remaining. We really cannot do it

without your help.

We are looking for Board Members for the

2014/2015 school year. This is a great opportunity

to be fully involved in your son/daughter's music

education. I have enjoyed my time with the board so

much that I am staying on for another year at least.

Please look at the openings listed in this newsletter

and let me know if there is something you would be

interested in helping with next year.

I hope to see you at the Spring Musical "The Pajama

Game" the weekend of May 1-4 and again at the

Choir Show "Motown" on May 8 & 9. The kids

have been working so hard - it should be an

awesome week of performances.

And don't forget the Choir Banquet on Friday, May

16!

Whew! What a busy month! Let's take the time to

enjoy and celebrate our children.

Bright and riotously funny, the Tony Award-winning Broadway smash hit, "The Pajama Game," is musical

theater at its very best. This clever, entertaining show will be presented at Downers Grove South High School

May 1, 2 & 3 at 7 PM and May 4 at 3 PM in the auditorium.

In this fast-paced, feisty tale, the classic dispute between labor and management is portrayed by the workers of

the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory. The union leadership Prez (Dan Balsamo) and Babe Williams (Lian Lucansky)

lead the workers to negotiate for their for their seven and one-half cent raise from management bosses

Mr. Hasler (Andy Mahlan), Vernon Hines (Brett Cohen) and Sid Sorokin (Josh Rogers). When Sid, the new

superintendent, meets Babe, the head of the grievance committee, sparks fly and romance complicates work

relationships. There is added romance and humor with Hines, the erratic efficiency expert; and Gladys (Mariah

Copeland), the boss’s private secretary.

Called "the best" and "a first-rate musical rumpus" by The New York Times, The Pajama Game is a laugh-out-

loud joyride of a show. The high-energy score by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross brims with popular hits and

musical theater standards such as Hey There, Steam Heat, and the hilarious Hernando's Hideaway.

Choir Volunteer Opportunities

YOUR LAST CHANCE TO VOLUNTEER!!!

The 2013 – 2014 DGS Choral season is coming to a close with two very special events.

The Spring Musical, The Pajama Game, will be performed on May 1, 2, 3 and 4 (Thursday through Sunday)

· During the musical, the Choral Boosters will be selling snacks and refreshments before the show

and during intermission. To make this happen, we need 2 volunteers for the Friday, Saturday and

Sunday performances.

The Choir Banquet will be held on Friday, May 16th

.

· At the end-of-the year Choral Banquet we have a wonderful dinner planned and are in need of a

few parents to help serve food and help clean up after the event.

It takes people that are willing to donate their time to make these wonderful events happen for the students and

parents. If you are able to volunteer please contact Kim Cohen at [email protected].

$$ Student Accounts $$

Attention Seniors!

Parents, don’t forget your students can request money from their student account to be used for any

approved choir related fees (private lessons, required ensemble apparel, trips, musical/choir show expenses

etc.). If you are a senior or a student who will not be returning to the choir program the following year,

you must make your final requests for reimbursement by May 1st. Check account balances on the Student

Account list posted in the Choir Room and complete a Student Account Refund Request form. This form

should be completed and deposited in the choir mailbox in the Choir Room. Requests approved by the

appropriate Choir Director will be reviewed and upon approval, a reimbursement will be made and deducted

from the Student Account balance.

See you at the May 5th Meeting if you are

interested in joining the Board!

Choral Boosters is in need of new board members. Our senior

choir students are graduating and so are their parents! Most of

our board positions are co-chaired positions-this divides the

work and doubles the fun. What talents can you share with

our team? We have needs in several areas.

Visit the Choral Booster’s website for a complete listing of

job responsibilities for board positions at:
