The Saturday before National Heritage Day, in May, was decided. John Simp. wondered about a meeting of the Swap Meet committee, but lead-up jobs seem to be getting done. Tim reported that his 1958 Dodge Truck with hay-bales was used as a wedding carriage for his son’s wedding. Paul Andratta reported that there is a need to get a better understanding about how to go about buying a club shirt

and getting the club logo attached. Secretary will investigate. Ken Harrison displayed a window sticker of our club logo. Available 100 for $180. RPB suggested that the club buys 100, and could supply one to every member, especially as a presentation gift welcoming new members. Tim declared that we will vote at next Meeting as members might like to first ponder about this. RP Bradly has for give-away - rear springs for Falcon ute. Hugh McMinn has a Ford LTD for sale. John Mackie displayed a Mystery Mechanical Part. We thought it was a giant gudgeon pin. But - It was just one of the rocker-arm shafts that sits over 2 valves over one of the cylinders of a 16 cylinder engine of a Diesel Locomotive. Reminding members to please think about volunteering at the end of this year to be an Office Bearer of this club, Chairman Tim, closed the Meeting at 9.02 pm.

Presidents Report

Hello All. At our last meeting Carmel Brown from the Murrumburrah-Harden Hospital Auxiliary was presented with our donation to their good work. Unfortunately, the donation to the Southcare Helicopter could not be presented due to illness. This will be done when a time can be arranged with Jenny O’Brien, The newspaper and myself. Due to issues beyond the control of our editor we ask that your reports etc, be in Betsy’s hands by the 15th of the month. If this does not work out we will discuss the issue when it becomes an issue. In this issue there should be a copy of what may become our rear window sticker. Please consider as we hope to order these if acceptable at the next meeting. Again it is not too early to start working on candidates for our committee for the next term of office. The Wallendbeen Red Cross Fair will be a good day for us to support. Ting and I will be in Sydney and will not be able to attend. Please make an effort to be at the pizza and film night. This is a great night out and very social. The car muster at the PCYC at Young has a prize for the most cars from one Club. Can this be us?. See the back page for all details. Another event that went well last year was the HOT CROSS BUN run. Please come and make it even better. Hope to see you all at the next meeting. Work is again interfering with life and shed building so the shed is not finished yet so it is still.

Yours in door fitting.

Tim O’Keeffe.

The Livingstone Woody 26th February 2014 I was honoured to be asked by the family of the Late Dudley Loiterton to take The Woody to his funeral. Dudley was a wood craftsman and was building our house. Michael had bought home the remains of a wooden body belonging to an A model Station Wagon from Fitzroy Falls. He showed Dudley what he had, and also the plans he had from America Dudley was persuaded by Michael to make the wooden body of the 1928 A Model Ford, AR Series Station Wagon. This was to be the First A Model Woody that we knew of, to be restored in Australia. The body came together in Dudley’s shed and his family told me today how they remember their Dad meticulously working to make the body as original as possible, while in our shed Michael was busy putting all the mechanical parts together. On telling Patrick this he remarked how Michael took him to look each week and view the progress and both had taken many photos The restoration of the Woody started in 1970 and was to be ready to take Patrick to his first day at school, but Michael had a bad road accident and so it did not come onto the road until 1978 On seeing the Woody parked at the front of the Church today, I was very proud to be driving it and was reminded, as was Dudley’s family and friends of a great tradesman, who helped Michael’s dream to restore a woody station wagon come true. Their love to restore this vehicle is certainly evident and their workmanship is kept alive, when the Woody is driven.

Gwen Livingstone.

South West Get Together

Sunday’s run to Grenfell for the South West Get Together started out well but only lasted to the end of Jindalee straight with Ken & Betsy pulling over the Wolesely with radiator problems. Were they going to make a cup of tea? Not likely but the water was boiling in the radiator. They headed back home and grabbed the modern to continue to Grenfell.

Page 8: April 2014 - Cootamundra Antique Motor Club · 2016-06-22 · MIUTES OF MEETING held at Harden - Monday 3 MARCH, 2014. Meeting was opened at 8 pm. by President, Tim O’Keeffe, welcoming

BUT! then along Jindalee straight again, we met John Finucane in his Mini Cooper S heading back into town. John had made it to the top of Faulk’s Hill and stopped abruptly with a fuel blockage problem. He made it back home OK but then turned around again to continue his journey in the Cooper with no more problems. Me thinks there’s two candidates for the “Bugga Up” trophy ! On reaching Grenfell railway station, there were over 60 cars already parked. Clubs came from Young, Temora, Goulburn, Wagga and Cootamundra and the tables on the railway station platform were stacked with yummy food. The Grenfell club put on a fantastic day and everyone seemed pleased at the turn out of cars and people. The welcome speech was given by Grenfell President Billo Wheatley who announced the next South West Get Together was to be held at Temora and Eddie Samms, President of the Temora club was there to elaborate a bit more on what will happen on that weekend. One of the happiest faces on the day belonged to 7 year old Dartanian who was asked to go for a run in Keith and Helen Capps 1928 “A” Model Ford.He looked great sitting in the “FORD” with his “HOLDEN” cap on and the smile was absolutely beaming. He loved the sound of the Klaxon horn.

Mid Week Run to Bluestill Distillery at Young

Thursday 20th February 20 members of CAMC visited the Bluestill Distillery – Gallery & Café – a great day! Leaving Coota at 11am, we met up with Kevin White at the Young Railway Station and then drove to the Café where we had a quick look around and then ordered lunch. The lunch was delicious and heaps of it at a very reasonable price. After lunch we had a good look at the Gallery with some lovely arts & crafts for sale, then it was time for a tour of the distillery. It. is a small family owned business that have distributors in many locations around the country and have just finalized a deal with China – great to see small business doing so well. They distill all sorts of spirits – Brandy – Vodka – Whisky & Bourban to mention just a few. The tour was very interesting - an excellent place for a visit. After this we went to Les & Pam Warren’s Memorabilia display also in Young- Pam & Les are members of the Young car club, they made us extremely welcome and after looking at the staggering amount of things they have both collected they served us a lovely afternoon tea.

This part of the day was arranged by Kevin and thank you Kevin, it made a great end to a great da
