To our visitors:
We hope that God will grant you peace
and rest while you are under our roof
today.
May this church be your “second” home.
May those you love be near you in
thought and prayer.
Even though we may not get to know you,
We pray that you will be comfortable and
happy as if you were in your own
church home.
May whatever need brought you our way
find a hearing by God.
When you leave, may your journey be
safe.
We pray you God’s peace.
Baptism
Parents seeking baptism for their
child are expected to attend a
preparation session. Parents are
recommended to attend a session
prior to the birth of their child.
Next Session of Baptism:
Preparation for the
first born child is
Thursday, April 26 at
6:15pm. Godparents
are also expected to
attend. This session
will be held in the St.
Louis Room.
Next weekend, Imad Qumseih a Palestinian Christian originally from
Bethlehem, Israel (the Holy Land) will once again be here offering for
sale religious items hand carved and crafted by his fellow countrymen in
the Holy Land. As in the past, his work has the approval of the Latin
(Roman archbishop) Patriarch of Jerusalem. Proceeds from the sale of
these items go directly to support Christian families living in
the Holy Land. Given the constant political tensions in the
area many Palestinian Christians have either been forced out
of their homeland or have simply left. Traditionally, these Catholics have been
the custodians of the Christian shrines associated with the life of Jesus. Support
of these Christians through the wood-carved work they offer helps to keep a
Catholic presence in the Holy Land. Thank you for your continued support.
The Stephen Ministry here at St. Cecilia’s brings care to all in need.
This confidential, Christian caregiving
is a vital part of the total healing
ministry of Christ’s body, the Church.
Stephen Ministers are trained to aid
the care receivers to more effectively
deal with their own situations and to
grow. God alone is the one who takes
broken individuals and makes them
whole . A Stephen Minister is the care
giver and God is the cure giver.

Schmitt (515-291-8257) or Deacon

ST. CECILIA SCHOOL The students at St. Cecilia are involved in a variety of activities
to give back to the community. This is an important part of the
mission for the school and students to provide for the
variety of community group and those in the community that
need support. During the school year each month we focus on
one organization to "give back too". Some of these this year
have included:
Jacob's Gift- in memory of a former student of Mrs. Fletcher
William R Bliss Cancer Center-MGMC
Shop with a Cop
Habitat for Humanity of Central Iowa
Jump Rope for Heart-National Downs Syndrome Society
This year the students have been able to contribute just over
$7,500 to the various groups. Thank you to our students and
families for helping the organizations that need our support.
A second program that benefits families is the script program.
This program supports the families from St. Cecilia that are
part of St. Cecilia School or the Faith Formation Program. A
portion of the purchase price for script is returned to the par-
ish to support scholarship programs for families in the parish.
This year over $10,000 of SCRIP orders were purchased
during Catholic Schools Week for this effort with a portion of
these funds returned to the school. Remember script is
available during the year and you can purchase cards for the
face value and then the business return a portion of your
purchase back to the parish for these program. Please think
about supporting this program year round by purchasing your
script cards t at the school or parish offices and you can but
script a various matches during the month, check the bulletin
for the exact weekends that script is on sale.

MEDICARE CARD—UPDATE
Starting in April 2018, Medicare will mail new cards to all
recipients. The reason is to decrease vulnerability to identify
theft by taking social security numbers off the cards. It will
take 12 months to send out cards to the 20% of the US
population on Medicare so do not worry until April 2019 that
our card has not come yet. The new cards will be sent out
randomly so you may not get it at the same time as friends or
neighbors. Medicare benefits and coverage are not changing,
only the cards. For additional information, please contact Joan
Grabenstetter at (515)232-7740.

Married at St. Cecilia on Saturday, April 14, 2018
CONGRATULATIONS!
PRAYER & THOUGHT Marriage Corner: “I am the good shepherd . . .I will lay
down my life for my sheep.” (Jn 10:14-15) What does the
image of the Good Shepherd reveal about your role of
leadership and authority as a spouse or a parent? With so
many responsibilities—caring for your family, work, tending
to the home, etc.—there are many things to worry and stress
about. Entrust them to God and find peace; He will guide you.
Stewardship: To be good stewards we must be good
shepherds, willing to lay down our lives for those committed
to our care, not mere hired hands who run off, “leaving the
sheep to be snatched and scattered by the wolf.”
Spring Cleaning of the parish
lawn will begin at 8:30am, on
Saturday, May 5. The Knights of
Columbus are leading up the
crew and would like more
volunteers. If you can volunteer, please contact the parish
office at 233-3092. We will need gardening supplies if you
can bring some: shovels, rakes, spades, trimmers, wheel
barrows, etc.
The Our Call to Share Collection will be taken up in our parish on the weekend of April 28-29, 2018. The combined collections for this Spring include: Peter’s Pence, Catholic Relief Services, Catholic Communications and the Witness. Please use the envelope received in the mail this past week. Thank you for your generous prayerful and financial support.
