Have an internship this summer?

Here are some quick tips for success

1. ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS! Being an intern allows you to ask questions that a full time sta member might not.

2. TAKE NOTES. Carrying a notebook around with you may seem dorky, but it really comes in handy when they are throwing out acronyms you need to remember or words you don't know, so you can look them up later

3. ASK FOR THINGS TO DO. People tend to get caught up in their own projects and forget they have someone like you around to help them with it. So asking for things to do will help keep you busy and show that you are a self-starter, which will denitely be remembered around the oce.

4. ASK TO SHADOW PEOPLE IN OTHER DEPARTMENTS. If you are interested in another eld, ask to shadow someone in that department and see what they do. Internships are a great way to explore your interests and you may nd you’re interested in another eld all together.

5. ASK TO SEE OTHER PARTS OF THE BUSINESS. Asking to set up a day to tour a company plant or warehouse is a good way to help you understand how the business ts together and how what your doing aects the process. Also, it’s a good way to get out of the oce!

6. ASK FOR HELP. If you don't understand something or what you are supposed to do, ask for help. In most companies, people love having interns around and want to help them out and because they have a lot of experience they are a great resource!

7. BE PROFESSIONAL! This means dress and act appropriately.

8. BE CONFIDENT. Companies don't expect you to come in knowing everything. It is a learning experience so be prepared to learn.

9. BE OGANIZED. If you keep your desk organized, it will be much easier to nd information when you need to answer a quick question.

10. PRIORITIZE. Time management skills are very important in the workforce. You may be handed several projects at once so learning how to balance your time wisely is important in being successful.
