Spring Cleaning Check List for Pest Control

April is National Pest Management month as declared by the National Pest Management

Association (NPMA). At this time we like to bring awareness to pest problems and let home

owners know ways that they can effectively handle pest problems without the use of pesti-

cides. Here are some tips from Bug-Tec Pest Control that you should consider when doing

your Spring cleaning to help prevent you from having pest problems:

Make sure all debris is cleaned from under bushes and shrubbery

Make sure there isn’t stacked wood, boxes, bricks, etc. near the stem wall of your

home

Keep your trees and shrubbery trimmed so that they aren’t in direct contact with

your home..

Use yellow light bulbs for porch lights – this keeps flying insects down, which attract

other insects to your home (food chain)

Replace weather stripping around doors if needed – remember a small gap is all it

takes for a scorpion to get through..

Get caulking and go around your home and fill in any cracks or holes..

Eliminate standing water such as: kid pools, birdbaths, clogged gutters, etc.

Avoid leaving pet food in dishes outside overnight or for long periods of time so

they don’t attract ants..

Keep yard clean of pet feces –

this keeps the flies on your

property down..

When stacking wood around

yard on ground, use plastic

PVC pipe to stack wood on –

this keeps it off the ground

and keeps it from attracting

termites. Call now for Pest

control services Bug-Tec Pest

New bedding can be refreshing. The use of bright colors can be uplifting,

and bring new life and give a new feel to your room.

baking soda, and a good stock of rags, scrubbers and gloves.

Ladies, if you've never had the wonderful experience of browsing a consign-

ment boutique, be prepared for a brand new adventure in shopping! And if

you have some beautiful items that you no longer fit, a consignment bou-

tique is the answer for you.

Consignment owners have the same philosophy- "We will continue to con-

vince the world to be come resale shoppers-those who "get it" will have a

marvelous time, those who don't will just have to pay retail.

Here's a list of what you need to know before choosing a consignment shop

to sell your items:

Choose a consignment shop with a great traffic flow, one that in not over-

crowded with items. The shop should smell fresh and all the items should be

beautifully displayed.

The better, high-end consignment shops will require you to have an ap-

pointment and will give you a set of guidelines for bringing you items in. The

guidelines detail a number of items you can bring in, the name brands that

are accepted and your responsibility for keeping in touch with the shop.

Keep in mind, too, that the better consignment shops are booked with ap-

pointments sometimes six months in advance. You may have to wait a bit

for an appointment, but it will be worth it. Their sales records and inventory

turns are fabulous! In addition, unlike the "drop and run" shops, your items

will be on the sales floor that same day!

When you arrive on time for your appointment, the shop owner devotes

that time to inspect your items. She only chooses the ones that she can sell.

Rest assured that the shop owner is experienced and knowledgeable of her

market area and will demand the best price for your items.

From the Golf Course to the Dance Floor and

a Little Bit of Cowgirl In Between"

How to gently consign your gently used clothing

and accessories.

Page 11: April/ May 2013

Phoenix Ultimate Woman April/ May 2013

There are several factors you

must keep in mind when

choosing your items to con-

sign:

1. Most Important! In current

style (no more than 2 years

old). What you see in the retail

stores, you will also see in bet-

ter consignment shops.

2. All clothing MUST be in pris-

tine condition or they will not

be accepted. The shop owner

WILL NOT accept items that

she has to clean, steam, press.

She doesn't have time! Take

pride in your items- it will pay

in the long run!

3. Jewelry need to be pol-

ished, watches need to be

running.

4. Shoes should be in new

condition- no scuffs and no

sign of wear.

5. Do not be offended if the

shop owner does not accept

all your items. Selections are

based on market demand

and space availability as well.

She can't afford to take in

items that are in question of

selling and must only accept

items that she knows will sell

quickly. New inventory is so

important to smaller consign-

ment shops-customers like to

see new things every time

they visit!

So consign your items, put cash in your pocket, or

have fun with it and use it as an in-store credit at

your consignment boutique!

Eva Louis

as the “Queen of Networking”

Eva Louis who is often referred to as the “Queen of Net-

working” is more than just that. She was born in the Midwest

and lived most her life there until a little over seven years ago in

2006 where she made a decision that would instrumentally

change her life. Eva came from a family that believed in strong

work ethic, helping others, and working hard. She was surround-

ed by this way of thinking which has permeated her being for

most of her existence. As a freshman in high school, Eva started

with a five year plan that evolved to an on-going rolling five year

plan that she keeps to this day. It was instrumental in helping

her take charge of the direction she intended to go which includ-

ed having her own consulting firm. Little did anyone know how

serious she was about her goals and dreams which brings us

here today. At the core, Eva Louis is a hard working driven indi-

vidual that has a life mission of edification of others with positive

encouragement to show them what is possible. So back to the

decision she made; Eva was recruited by a large corporation for a

senior management position and brought to the Phoenix area in

2006.

So here the story begins…Phoenix, AZ has been the catalyst for

the “Eva Louis” that people now know. The area has offered her

the creative juices to evolve everything she does at so many lev-

els and see the world. This is what she now calls her home away

from where her parents live and family. If there was one word

people would describe Eva as it would have to be “Energy”!!

Short of calling her the Energizer Bunny, she just keeps going and

going and going. Where does she go? The list is almost unbeliev-

able and is endless and most people always have to ask the infa-

mous question of, “When do you sleep?” in almost every new

encounter. The short topical list of what Eva is involved is in-

cludes the following areas IT Consulting, Software and IT Asset

Management, Audit Compliance, Technical Negotiations, IT Sup-

ply Chain/Procurement, Business Process & Operations Manage-

ment, Six Sigma, Training, Sales, Coaching, Communications,

Speaker, Marketing, Promotions, Social Media, Web Presence,

Fashion, Film, Networking, Writing, and Event Coordination.

Mind you, this is a short list and the

focus here is almost all Left Brain

interests, her Right Brain interests

are almost as many, a couple are

mentioned above, but also include

Arts, Music, Entertainment, Radio,

Broadcasting, Acting, Modeling,

Charity/Non-profit work – Volun-

teering, Dancing and a few more.

This is as granular as we will go.

Needless to say, that going back to

the original descriptive word of

“Energy” actually makes a lot more

sense now as in order to even think

about these areas and then be in-

volved with all of them requires an

excessive amount of energy. Being

unique, different, weird, or strange

for Eva is an understatement which

she actually talks about a lot.

Page 15: April/ May 2013

Phoenix Ultimate Woman April/ May 2013

Cont.. Mostly because it is the easiest way to describe how she is. Over the last two and half years, she

has seen and experienced the most change. She left the corporate world in 2010 to venture out on her

own after some significant life impacting changes occurred in both 2009 and 2010. She made a conscious

choice to launch a business that was totally based on her passions, love, and expertise. The reason was so

that she could do great business at a level that truly benefited individuals and businesses in such a way,

that she could help a very large audience no matter what type of organization regardless of the size. Real-

istically, most companies want to serve everyone, however they can’t. She has certain criteria for working

with businesses which helps her to actually serve a greater audience than most. Eva focuses on busi-

nesses where the owners and individuals are working in their passion areas and are living by their own

mission, vision, purpose, and goals. And if an organization has potential but is missing those aspects, she

helps to coach them so they have the foundation layer of the MVPG (Mission-Vision-Purpose-Goals) to

work from. Why is this so important to her? Eva states her entire success and growth has been based on

the fact that these items are in place and everything she does fulfills her mission.

Eva strives to make a difference in others’ lives daily no matter where she is

at and what she is doing. This is a tall order and a challenge she seeks daily. If

at this point in the article you doubt any of this, try hanging out with her for

one day. It can be brutal, as she still works a 40 hour a week position with a

large regional company in her IT world and then is President of both a Public

Relations Company, her own IT Consulting Company, and has numerous part-

nerships in the valley, nationwide as well as affiliations internationals. She

attends and supports events in all her areas of business networking, Film, Fash-

ion, Arts, Music, and Entertainment as well as works with the major Fashion

industry in promotion and marketing and oh, did we forget to mention, that

she was appointed to be an Inaugural Queen for 2013 for the Triumph Over

Tragedy USA Pageant and then volunteers for a group called MY LIFE - Magel-

lan Youth Leaders Inspiring Future Empowerment which works with at risk

youth and supports many other organizations in the valley.

Even though the perception here is that she is all work and no play, you would be sadly mistaken, as Eva has

the corner market on celebrating and throwing fun events. She definitely takes pure enjoyment in bringing

joy, happiness, and inspiration to others and this can only be done by having fun. Eva’s hobbies and she

actually has them include reading, writing (which she does for both media publication purposes and fun);

she also likes to sing, dance, and travel to the beaches anywhere and Vegas is definitely a favorite stomping

ground of hers. At the end of the day, Eva has still a lot of life to live, share, and give to others and any-

where she can be of assistance, she is working to help connect others, establishing forums to make things

happen and gives a voice to those that don’t have an opportunity or the ability to do so themselves. If you

are interested in finding out more about Eva Louis and following what she does, she can be found on all the

typical Social Media forums. Take a moment to think about how you would change the world as Eva could

surely help you get started on that as the Phoenix Ultimate Woman.

Demand of Branded Bags

When it comes to fashion, the first thing ladies used to consider were cosmetics

or designer clothes, however, in the past few years things have changed and

now the first thing they are deciding on is which handbag to use. Handbags are

very eye catching whether it is a high quality branded bag or normal bag, which

is not made by a big brand. Women like to carry a bag of high quality and often

buy branded bags at any cost, so they can show they belong to a high society

and to show they can afford these branded handbags.

Networking: The Power of Connection

Being an entrepreneur can be tremendously re-

warding, but it can be incredibly stressful too! One

way to both reduce stress and increase the reward

is by growing a vibrant, supportive personal net-

work.

Just how important is networking to the long-term

success of your business? As both the owner of a

successful business (Vitaerobics.com), and the

Managing Director of eWomenNetwork in Phoenix,

I can tell you that it is essential! Don’t just take my

word for it; a recent study found that as much as

75 percent of all business is created through net-

working!

The term “networking” is used, and misused, a lot.

First, and most importantly, networking is NOT

about selling. And, it’s not about passing out as

many business cards as you can, either. Instead, to

be successful, think of networking as an opportuni-

ty to develop key relationships and create powerful

partnerships. It involves both learning about others

and helping others learn about you. The success of

your network is not measured by the number of

business cards you collect. Instead, it is measured

by the number of quality connections you establish.

You may be surprised at the connections you can

make at just one event. Often, when she speaks to

groups, Sandra Yancey, the founder and CEO of

eWomenNetwork, the premier networking organi-

zation for women (and smart men) entrepreneurs,

tells people that, “Everyone you need to grow a

thriving business is in this room, right now. You just

don’t know them all yet.”

You have probably heard it before, but it

bears repeating: People like to do business

with those they know, like and trust. People

have to know you before they can trust you,

and that’s what quality networking provides

– the perfect forum to learn about others

and begin to build trust.

Here are three key steps for growing your

network:

#1: Think of every event that you attend as a

networking opportunity. You never know

who you will meet and how you might be

able to support each other.

Engage in meaningful conversations, actively

looking for ways to help and connect others.

This may be simply introducing them to

someone you know, offering advice in your

area of expertise, or identifying ways that

you both might benefit from collaborating.

Some of my best connections have come

when I least expected them, so keep your

eyes and ears open.

#2: Have a plan. Before each event, think

about what you want to achieve, and then

approach that event with your personal goals

in mind. Have an idea of who you want to

meet, know what value you and your busi-

ness offers to others, and be able to clearly

articulate what you need in the next 30 days

to grow your business.

Page 23: April/ May 2013

Phoenix Ultimate Woman April/ May 2013

#3: Follow-up, follow-up, follow-up. Many people who attend

networking events, never reach out after the event to the con-

tacts they’ve made. Remember, it’s not about how many busi-

ness cards you collect. It’s about beginning the process of estab-

lishing trust, and that usually takes more than one brief encoun-

ter.

Making follow up phone calls, sending promised information, or

just checking in is a great start. Offering additional information

that wasn’t specifically mentioned is another great way to help

build a new relationship. I often send people articles or ideas that

I think might be of interest to them. First, I genuinely want to

help them, and second, it reminds them that I am thinking of

them and the success of their business.

Follow these three steps and watch your network grow in both

size and quality. Remember, focus on quality first. A small, quality

network is much more valuable than a larger, lower quality net-

work.

If you would like to learn more about networking and how it can

help your business succeed, join me on May 8th for the 4th Annual

Women’s Success Summit in Phoenix. Talk with savvy entrepre-

neurs, make amazing connections, and meet the founder of
