In The Purpose Driven Church , Rick Warren asks, “Have you ever wondered why God leaves us here on earth, with all its pain, sorrow, and sin, after we accept Christ? Why doesn‟t God just zap us im- mediately to heaven and spare us from all this? After all, we can worship, fellowship, pray, sing, hear God‟s Word, and have fun in heaven. In fact, there are only two things you can‟t do in heaven that you can do on earth: sin, and witness to unbelievers. Which of these two do you think Christ has left us here to do?” (116) After 40 days of prayer and fasting, 50 days of evangelism will begin on Easter. The Holston Confer- ence‟s goal is 3000 baptisms and professions of faith on Pentecost (May 23). The late Harry Denman, a lay evangelist, said he wanted to see every church have a Pentecost, not just observe Pentecost. Instead of ob- serving Pentecost with the color red and talk about the Holy Spirit, wouldn‟t it be great to have a Pentecost where we celebrate God‟s Spirit changing the lives of our friends, relatives, acquaintances, and neighbors? Will you help connect people to Jesus by invit- ing someone you know to church and “offering them Christ” through word, sign, deed, and prayer? One method is to recycle your worship bulletin. After wor- ship, keep your bulletin in your car or on your desk at work, then seek to give it to someone along with a personal invitation to join you at Trinity next Sunday. Many believers will talk at length about “American Idol” but won‟t say a word about the One we praise who is not an idol. Many disciples will talk about “Dancing with the Stars” but won‟t tell anyone about the Lord of the Dance who created the sun, moon, and stars. asks, “Have you ever wondered why God leaves us

here on earth, with all its pain, sorrow, and sin, after

we accept Christ? Why doesn‟t God just zap us im-

mediately to heaven and spare us from all this? After

all, we can worship, fellowship, pray, sing, hear God‟s

two things you can‟t do in heaven that you can do on

earth: sin, and witness to unbelievers. Which of these

two do you think Christ has left us here to do?” (116)

After 40 days of prayer and fasting, 50 days of

evangelism will begin on Easter. The Holston Confer-

ence‟s goal is 3000 baptisms and professions of faith

on Pentecost (May 23). The late Harry Denman, a lay

evangelist, said he wanted to see every church have a

Pentecost, not just observe Pentecost. Instead of ob-

serving Pentecost with the color red and talk about the

Holy Spirit, wouldn‟t it be great to have a Pentecost

where we celebrate God‟s Spirit changing the lives of

our friends, relatives, acquaintances, and neighbors?

Will you help connect people to Jesus by invit-

ing someone you know to church and “offering them

Christ” through word, sign, deed, and prayer? One

method is to recycle your worship bulletin. After wor-

ship, keep your bulletin in your car or on your desk at

work, then seek to give it to someone along with a

personal invitation to join you at Trinity next Sunday.

Many believers will talk at length about

“American Idol” but won‟t say a word about the One

we praise who is not an idol. Many disciples will talk

about “Dancing with the Stars” but won‟t tell anyone

about the Lord of the Dance who created the sun,

moon, and stars. Yet nobody can tell the story of why

Jesus is your Savior and Lord better than you can.

From the Director of Children & Youth Ministries

We had a great month in March with lots of things that hap-

pened. We had a good turn out for the safe sanctuary training. Laura Lam-

bert did a fabulous job teaching us and giving us some pointers to make

our church better prepared for things.

April is going to be a very busy month for children and youth.

We will have our annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 3rd from

10:30-Noon. Food will be provided. The menu will be burgers, hotdogs,

chips and cookies.

The Friday night before, will be the start of our 30 hour famine

for the youth group. The Lock-In/Famine will start at 4pm and will end at

4pm on Saturday. This should be a great time for our kids to learn the

value of food and hunger. I look forward to hearing how lives are changed

after this event.

Confirmation class will start Sunday the 18th during Sunday

school. The confirmation weekend will be the 30th and 1st of May

more details will be given to those who sign up.

Our youth banquet will be Sunday, April 25th @ 6:30 please

come and support all of our youth. We have a large graduating class this

year.

Have a great month!

John Redmond

our worship by offering their musical talents

during the last month

their fundraising lunch and silent auction for
