1. On the night Jesus was born, an angel brought good news of great joy to some shepherds. Evangel- ism is sharing the good news that Jesus is the Savior, Christ the Lord. Often we think of evangelism as standing on a street corner urging people to “turn or burn.” Or we picture knocking on doors and asking strangers, “Do you know the Lord?” But I like to think of evangel- ism as one beggar telling another beggar where to find food. If Jesus is your Savior, you have a story to tell about how the Lord has fed your hungry soul with the bread of life. Your story doesn’t need to be dramatic, like Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus. Even if you have always gone to church, the angels still re- joiced the moment you en- tered the kingdom of God! The story of how Jesus has changed your life for the bet- ter will give God glory. The Holy Spirit is actively involved in the evangelistic process. First we ask the Spirit to prepare the heart of the person we want to point to Jesus. Then while the Spirit uses our words and actions to invite people to Jesus, it is the Spirit’s grace that leads them to Christ. The effort is our responsibility, but the results are God’s responsibility. This should remove a lot of pressure from our shoulders. This is why in our FRAN plan, for 40 days (Dec. 1-Jan. 9) we have been invited to pray daily for a Friend, Relative, Acquaintance, and Neighbor, then invite the four people on our list to worship on Janu- ary 10. My message that day will seek to “offer Christ.” Between worship and Sunday School we will have a reception to welcome our guests. Pastor: Rev. SPR Committee

F.R.A.N. Plan… The Evangelism Committee has embarked on a quest to minister to our un-churched friends and neighbors.

The congregation has been asked to pray for a Friend, a Relative, an Acquaintance, and a Neighbor for forty days, asking the Holy Spirit to help them reach out to

these people and to invite them into a life that includes Jesus and a welcoming congregation.

The ministry, which runs De-cember 1 through January 9th will end with a special ser-vice on January 10th with a re-ception following the service.

This will give the congregation an opportunity to greet our un-churched friends and neighbors who have been so reverently prayed for and finally in-vited to join us.

UMW NEWS Shalom will meet at 6:30 pm on January 9th.

Maude Landemesser will not meet in January.

Ruth Group will meet on January 11th at 7 pm. UMW Unit will meet on January 25th at 7 pm.

The Clothes Closet is open… Regular hours will be the 2nd and 4th Mon-days from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm each

month. January 11 & 25 this month! The Clothes Closet is located downstairs from the sanctuary in the ‘old kitchen’. There will be signs in the parking lot to direct visitors to the correct entrance. Ques-tions? Contact Ellen Boles or Lucille Cutshaw.

Thank you, Lucille Cutshaw and

Ellen Boles
