Girls participating in Jones Academy’s Rite of PassageCeremoney 2016:Priscilla Trejo-Rains, Zoey Oxendine-Hair, Mira McKnight
It’s that time of year again. Jones Academy is abuzz with awards assemblies, field trips, graduations, college explorations... the list goes on. But perhaps one of the most exciting and somber moment is the Rite of Passage ceremony. The residents who are about to make this monumental move to an older, more mature setting, have been preparing for this event by writ-ing speeches, making shields that represent important things in their lives and reflecting back on special moments when they first came to Jones Academy. It is a very special time for these residents who will be moving from the dorms where the elementary residents stay, to a more mature setting where the junior high and high school resi-dents reside. This is every passage inductees goal.
Zoey Oxendine-Hair reads the speech she prepared for the ceremony.
