A CALL TO REMEMBRANCE

God revealed himself to the people of Israel through the Patriarchs of the Faith (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob), Moses, and the Prophets. The people of Israel responded to God’s provision and protection by building altars and offering sacrifices to the Lord. These altars served as reminders of God’s provision and man’s need.

Several years ago our family vacationed in Washington D.C. We figured it would be a relatively “cheap” trip, in that we could see all of the “free” sights like the Smithsonian Museums, Library of Congress, Space Museum, Natural History Museum. As you surmised, the trip was not completely free, in that we paid for hotel, transportation, food, and souvenirs. Our touring took up beyond the museums, to the monuments. We stopped and observed in silence the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The monuments served as reminders of the human sacrifice expended for our benefit.

The great hymns of the faith serve as reminders testaments of faith/musical/altars/offerings enabling our hearts and mind to revisit and testify of the hope that is in us through the sacrifice of Christ, our Lord. The Apostle Paul admonished us to sing Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual songs, making melody in our hearts to the Lord, singing with the Spirit and with understanding. The Biblical truth that fortifies the great hymns of the faith continues to be voiced at FBC Bartlesville. This coming October 11 there will be a special musical presentation with choir/s and or-chestra, where we will sing our faith as we remem-ber and rejoice in what God has provided for us through the sacrificial atonement of Jesus Christ on our behalf. This is an event for the entire congregation and is extended to the community. This is also an opportunity for you to join the choir in this project by attending choir rehearsals on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:15 p.m. and selected Sundays in July, August, September and October.

Our youth just returned from a great week at Falls Creek. We had a wonderful time hearing God and hanging out together. We had 57 youth and 15 sponsors go with us this year. I want to thank the parents for allowing us to invest in their youth. I also want to thank the sponsors who took time out of their busy lives to serve our students. You had a great impact. Your commitment to caring for our students is truly appreciated. Thank you so much Jared Fitzpatrick Student Intern
