Aquaterm according to type of sewage flow,
required treatment proeess type and

prefabricated treatment packages utilizing
Moving Bed Biologicai Reactor (MBBR)
methods for sewage biological freatnent which
incorporate the bost technologies in portable
keabnent systems.
Treatrnent process in Aquaterm MBBR
prefabricated plants includes screening,
anaerobic aud aerobic treatment, Lamella
sedimentatiog sludge holding tank and efiiluent
disinfection. MBBR profabricated systems are
completely assembled and ready to run,

pollutants.
These pollutants that need to be removed
in order to &at the westewater are food fsr
growth of the Bio-Iilm. Thetefore, thc Bio-
carrier design is critic&l due ts requirements
for suffieient ransfer of food and oxygen to
the microorganisms. Excess Bio'film also
sloughs off the Bio-carrier in a natural way.
The Bio-carriers are usually made of high
density polyethylene and have specific gravity
somehow alike wastewater.
Engineered design of aeration systems of
the reactor supplies oxygen to the Bio-film
along with the mixing energyrequiredto keep
the Bio-carriers suspended and completely
mixed within the reactor.
Aerated water flows from reactor thorough a
gnd or a sieve, which retains the Bio-caffiers
in the reactor. In order to remove the sloughed
off biomass from the aerated wastewater,
sedimentation is employed after the aeration
tank. Further treafnent steps are just the same
as conventional trsatment processes.
As it is seen, this technology takes advantage
of both activated sludge process and
conventional fixed film systems without their
disadvantages. MBBR reactors can be operated
at very high load and the treaknent process is
insensitive to load variations and other
disturbances.

The "MEMBRAY" submerged flat sheet
membrane module, when used as a eomponent
of a mcmbrane bioreaotor (MBR) system,
effectively removes suspended solids. This
innovative microfiltration module in a plate-
and-frame configuration with flat sheet
membranes was developed.
The "MEMBRAY" module configuration
comprises an element block and an aeration
block. The element contains a number ofmeurbrane elements stacked at equal intervals,
each of which has flat sheet membranes
attached on both sides of a supporting panel.
Each element connected via a tube to apermeatod water manifold. The aeratioa block

as to cat off the liquid stream. The penstockgate consists of cover, frame and stem.Cover is a ductile disk and frame is a ductilering. The frame is installed at the end pipeopening or channel outlet and cover isconnected to the stem. As the stem is tuirred,a ball bearing and a cast bronze thrust nutthreaded to match the stem threads, cover slipsover the frame. Contact surface of frame and
cover is properly finished and this eliminatesthe leakage through the gate.

Curved screens are fully automatic. They are
conholled by a head loss sensor or a timer, but

Sand nnd Grit Removal
In order to achieve an efficient grit removal,
Aquaterm provides the grit chambers with
traveling bridges. Aquaterm Mechanical
traveling bridge on two bogies kavels slowly
back and forth on the grit chamber concrete
walls after a pre-set time. These bridges are
equipped with a bottom sand scraper and a
surface scum skimmer. During its forward
motion, collects the scum and oily floating
materials using its scum skimmer and conducts
it to scum box which is located by the grit
chamber wall.
The suitable materials are contact parts in 304
stainless steel except screw in carbon steel
plus lining.

Grit Chambers
The next step aftere screening is to removesmaller objects (such as sand, broken glass,
silt and pebbles). If these objects are notremoved, they can damage pumps and othermechanical devices.
These objects also have a tendency to settle incorners and bends, thus reducing flow capacityand eventually clogging pipes and channels.Grit chambers are concretelined rectangularponds, where the wastewater enters one endand leaves at the opposite end. These charnbers

Biological Treatment
Biological waste treatment involves bringing
the active microbial growth in contact withwastewater so that they can consume the
impurities as food. A great variety of micro
organisms come into play that include bacteia,protozoa, algae, etc.
These organisms in the presence of oxygen
convert the biodegradable organics into carbon
dioxide, water and other inert products.
Moreover, because of low solubility of oxygen
and the consequent 1ow rate ofoxygen transfer,
suffrcient oxygen to meet the requirements ofaerobic waste treatment does not enler water
through normal surface air-water interfaces.
Therefore, to transfer the large quantities ofoxygen that are needed for microorganisms,
additional interfaces must be formed. Either

such as a digester with high solidsconcentration, it does make sense to use coarse

Operation Mechanism:Aquaterm high speed surface aerator (Aquaair) fuactions as an open pump. tanks.
Circular settling tanks normally have a center
feed well with raw wastewater traveling fromthe center inlet loward the outer wall and
discharging over peripheral over flow weirs into
the effluent collection trough. Settled sludge is
fansported 1o a center collection sump by means
of rotating scraper arms (bridges) moving across
the tank floor. A surface skimmer mechanism is
also attached to the sludge scraper arm (bridge)
and rotates around the tank water surface and
conveys floaiing material to a collection box.

SBR Decanters
One of the new ffeatnent method is Sequencing
Barch Reactor. In this method, all the biologicalreactions aad sedimentation will happen in the
same tank. According to types of SBR they
will design.
SBR process utilizes a filland-&aw reactor
wi& complete mixing during the batch reaction
step and where the subsequeat steps of aeration
and clarification occur in the same tank. AllSBR systems have 5 steps in common whichare carried out in sequence as follows:

Dewatering is a Physical unit operation usedto reduce the moisture content of sludge andbiosolids Dewatered sludge and biosolids are
generally easier to handle than thickened orliquid sludge.
Several techniques are used in dewateringdevices for removing moisture. Some of these
techniques rely on tatural evaporation andpercolation to dewater the solids. ln mechanical

Belt-Filter Press
Belt-Filter Presses are continuous-feeddewatering devices that use the principles ofchemical conditioning, gravity drainage and
mechanically applied pressure to dewatersludge. It is a continuously operating machine,
in which the sludge is carried between twosieve belts along 12 (up to 14) press ro1lers.
