BREASTMILK IS BEST FOR BABIES: Professional advice should be followed before using an infant formula. Introducing partial bottle feeding could negatively affect breast feeding. Why has Aptamil changed the formulation?

This formulation upgrade is in line with our commitment at Nutricia to provide the highest

quality products and to continually ensure that our formulations optimally meet the needs of your

patients. We have upgraded the Aptamil Gold+ AR formula to add our unique blend of prebiotic

oligosaccharides (scGOS, lcFOS), as well as long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (DHA and AA),

in order to be consistent with the broader Aptamil Gold+ range.

What are the recipe changes?

• Nutricia’s unique blend of prebiotic oligosaccharides (scGOS, lcFOS) have been added to

support digestive comfort and promote softer and more regular stools2,3.

• Long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPs), which includes omega-3 fatty acids, have

been added to support brain and eye development in early life4.

• There has been a change in the base powder we use. Instead of being casein dominant, the

formula is now 60% whey and 40% casein, which is the same as our standard Aptamil Stage 1

Infant Formulas.

Are there any changes on the scoop?

Due to the recipe change, this has altered the bulk density of the powder which requires a

different scoop.

We have made a change to the size and colour of the scoop in the upgraded Aptamil Gold+ Reflux

product. The scoop has changed from a 17mL gold scoop (scoop weight 8.1g) to a 14mL light blue

scoop (scoop weight 7.6g).

Are there any changes to the feeding guide and preparation instructions?

Yes. The feeding guide and preparation instructions have been updated and may be found on

the new product label. The feeding guide is intended to guide healthcare professionals and parents/

care-givers in the amount of Aptamil Gold+ Reflux that they should prescribe/give to the infant.

The information in the table is intended as a guide only.

We have updated the preparation instructions with the recommendation to leave the prepared

formula to stand for up to 7 minutes to allow it to reach optimal thickness. Carob bean gum thickens

as it stands and will remain thick in the stomach. You can change how long you leave the formula

to stand based on the infant’s requirements.

What teat should be used?

This formula will continue to thicken after preparation and will remain thick in the stomach. A fast

flow or variable flow teat is recommended for this formula.
