ABOUT THE FORUM
THEME‘Art and Culture: Learning how to see again’ was the topic of the 2016 European Arts Forum. This was taken from Joseph Pieper’s ‘Only the Lover Sings’, a collection of essays where he speaks of the necessity for human persons to be able to contemplate and appreciate beauty amidst the overwhelming visual noise of today, for the development of their humanity.
Through this text, the participants were able to wonder, build background knowledge, develop questions, search for, synthesize, and understand new information, and share their insights with others. Through critical thinking, EAF participants were able to tie everything together, with essential questions helping them probe for deeper meanings and a common sense of responsibility.
