Born on Long Island New York, in 1980, Jennifer Santaniello once said: “Some of my earliest memories are of me drawing, of having the desire to pick up the nearest pencil and draw what ever happens to be in front of me at that particular moment”. The daughter of successful contractor, Jennifer would sit beside her farther at a young age and watch in fascination, as he would create sketches of magnificent architectural structures and properties. It was in those precious moments that Jennifer realized the power and freedom that drawing provided.Jennifer has been surrounded by all aspects of art and performance for her whole life. She received her first camera at the age of 6; she has not stopped shooting since. “My photography is my way of showing people how I see the world, my reality. If people walk away from my work having felt something, good or bad, then I have accomplished what I have set out to do.”Accepted to the Art Institute of Boston, she studied and mastered techniques in areas such as illustration, animation and photography. For Jennifer, all three go hand in hand. The form, fluidity and motion from her animation carried over into her illustration and photography, before she knew it, people were having great reactions to her work.Seeking employment, Jennifer stumbled upon a position with a high-end fashion agency in NYC, where she was introduced to fashion as an art. This changed both her perception and her work. Jenn was fortunate enough to work with the industry’s most elite photographers, designers and magazines ranging from Ruven Afanador, Badgley Mischka, Vogue and Vanity Fair. During this time she perfected her digital imaging and retouching skills which has lead her to work among iconic artists and technicians.All of her passion and experience in the industry and the arts has lead to Jennifer’s unique style and has helped shape how she creates.

Leonid Shishov was born in 1960 in Moscow, Russia.From my early childhood I was fascinated with the work of the photographer, as my father, though considered himself an amateur, in fact was a high-end photography professional and printing photographs in a dark bathroom in the evening with a red light was rejoicing and magic for me. I was still passionate about photography during my school and college years and, after arriving to U.S. in 1991, my desire to work in photography field had grown into a serious and multifaceted business.I believe that photography is a form of art which is apprehensible, close, and most importantly attainable to our contemporaries. And the emergence and progress of digital cameras and computer software have made creative and expressive possibilities of the art of photography truly limitless.

С самого раннего детства меня привлекала работа фотохудожника, так как

мой отец хоть и считал себя фотолюбителем, но на самом

деле был профессионалом высокого класса, и вечерние

печатания фотографий в тёмной ванной комнате

при красном фонаре были для меня праздником и

волшебством. Занятия в школе, а затем и в институте нисколько не ослабили мое увлечение, а наоборот, приехав в 1991 году в США, моё желание заниматься фотографией переросло в серьёзный u многосторонний бизнес.

Я убеждён, что фотография это вид искусства, который

очень понятен, близок, а самое главное доступен нашему

современнику. А появление и совершенствование цифровых

камер и компьютерных программ сделали искусство

фотографии безграничным для творчества и самовыражения.

Игорь Tюльпанов - один из немногих художников, которые относятся к живописи так, как

относились к ней несколько веков назад. Иногда он тратит несколько лет на одну картину.

Он родился в 1939 году в довоенном советском Ленинграде и воспитывался матерью,

поскольку его отец был убит в начале Великой Отечественной войны.

Не сразу, уже будучи студентом Политехнического института, молодой Тюльпанов

осознал, насколько велика его страсть к живописи. Он бросил институт и карьеру

инженера, чтобы стать учеником знаменитого критика, художника и режиссера, преподавателя Академии изобразительного искусства, театра и

кинематографии (ЛГИТМиК) Николая Акимова. В те годы в Ленинграде Тюльпанов создал

ряд знаковых полотен, которые сегодня можно найти во многих частных коллекциях Европы и

Соединенных Штатов. Такие произведения, как «Сундуки памяти», «Тайна», «Комната с Красным

Паркетом» являются наиболее известными и запоминающимися из его ранних вещей.

После отъезда из России в 1978 году вместе с семьей, Тюльпанов жил и работал в Париже.

В США художник переехал в 1979 году, а в марте 1980 года состоялась его первая

выставка в Нью-Йорке. С тех пор у него были многочисленные выставки в Нью-Йорке, Лос-

Анджелесе, Сан-Франциско и Гонконге. «Трейдмарк» работ Тюльпанова - это

тщательно выписанные детали, безупречная логика построения произведений, точность

крошечных мазков кистью, нескрываемое увлечение миром и его тайнами.

Тюльпанов чем-то напоминает чрезвычайно искусного хирурга, выполняющего сложную

операцию. Каждая его картина содержит в себе так много образов, символов и изображений, что любое из них само по себе вполне могло бы считаться отдельной картиной. Впрочем,

такой подход совершенно противоречит цели художника, которая заключается в создании

гармоничного и сложного в своей простоте мира, существующего в его воображении.

Перекраивающий реальность, иллюзионистский стиль художника по-прежнему интригует и не

поддается точному определению!

Igor Tiul’panoff is one of the few artists who treat painting the way it was treated several centuries ago. Sometimes he spends a few years on a single painting.He was born in 1939 prewar Soviet Leningrad and was brought up by his mother. His father was killed at the beginning of WWII.Young Tiul’panoff found himself as a student of Polytechnical Institute studying to be an engineer, but soon he recognized his strong passion for painting. He left his engineering career to become a student of famous critic, artist and stage director, a teacher of Academy of Fine Arts, Theater and Cinematography, Nikolai Akimov.Back in Leningrad Tiul’panoff created a number of important paintings, which now can be found in many private collections throughout Europe and the United States. Works like “Memory Chests”, “Mystery”, “The Room with Red Parquet” are the most memorable and important examples of his earlier career.After leaving Russia in 1978 with his family, Tiul’panoff lived and worked in Paris. They came to the United States in 1979.His first show in New York took place in March 1980. Since then he had had numerous exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Hong Kong.Trademarks of Tiul’panoff’s works include meticulous details, logic in his compositions, the precision of his tiny brush strokes, his infatuation with the world and its mysteries.He is not unlike an extremely skillful surgeon performing a very intricate operation. There is so much in one painting that its objects may be rightly considered to be paintings in themselves, but that would defeat the artist’s purpose, which is to create a world which is harmonious and complicated in its simplicity, a world that exists in his imagination.Reality notwithstanding, the artist’s illusionist style remains elusive and all but irresistible to discover!

I was born in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in August 1948.When I was 9 years old, my father presented me a photo camera, and from that moment hitherto the photography has a great role in my life. After high school graduation I studied journalism in Azerbaijan State University and at the same time began to publish my first articles in mass media. Upon graduation, I worked in AzTAG news agency and was the active member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR. In September 1990 I had repatriated to Israel.Photography for me is an inspiring reminder of how intricately and diversely the visual image can unfold in time. I was always taking photography as an art, as a product of creativity, and I personally like to experiment. Now I still actively photograph in various genres, such as landscapes, portraits and still life. I always try to come up with new ideas and plots and I think that there are no limits in photographic creativity.

В 9-летнем возрасте отец подарил мне фотоаппарат!

С того момента и по сегодняшний день фотография занимает в моей

жизни огромное место!Закончив школу, я поступил

учиться на факультет журналистики Азгосуниверситета и одновременно начал

сотрудничать в прессе.Получив диплом журналиста, я был

принят на работу в Азербайджанское телеграфное агненство – АзТАГ,

филиал ТАСС. Являлся членом Союза журналистов СССР. В сентябре 1990 года

репатриировался в Израиль.Фотография для меня - это

вдохновляющее напоминание о том, как многообразно и затейливо может зримый

образ осуществляться во времени.На фотографию всегда смотрел, как на произведение искусстова, являющееся результатом творческой деятельности.

Люблю экспериментировать.В настоящее время продолжаю активно

снимать и пейзажи, и портреты, и натюрморты.

Потребность в фотографии у меня возникает тогда, когда я придумываю

новые сюжеты, ведь нет границ для возможностей фотографа

The graphic style of Evgueni Tonevitsky combines the finest stroke technique with even more complicated divisionist and neoimpressionist play, when the space between the lines in the pattern is filled with tiny, carefully drawn geometric figures that create a distinct light and shadow effect. But he is doing this in his unique manner, not in any case imitating the pioneers of Divisionism, as you can see by visiting the New York Museum of Modern Art exhibition of Georges Seurat. The spectator cannot miss Tonevitsky’s “Prophetess”. The real meaning of the painting is that her prophecies are about herself. She is not too pretty and not so young but she believes and hence her desires will come true, and her destiny will facet them like a diamond, to which the artist had equated her heart. It is very important that Tonevitskiy’s works are optimistic, always carry positive energy and radiate it to the audience. In the work «Temptation”, the heroine is soaring, with the graceful bend of her appealing body, in the spirit of intense sensuality; she is confident in all of her ambitions, and only in the corners of her eyes there are hidden doubts and pain.

Для графики Тоневицкого характерны не только сложнейшая штриховая техника, но и ещё более сложная неоимпрессионистическая игра в

дивизионизм, когда пространство между линиями в контуре рисунка заполнено

крохотными, тщательно выполненными геометрическими фигурками, создающими

светотеневой эффект. И сделано это абсолютно оригинально, ни в коем

случае не в подражание зачинателям дивизионизма, в чём можно убедиться,

посетив в нью-йоркском Музее современного искусства выставку

графики Жоржа Сёра. Не может не заинтересовать

«Пророчица» Тоневицкого. Дело в том, что прорицания её обращены к самой

себе. Это некий волевой посыл. Она, не слишком красивая и не очень юная -

верит! А значит, желания её сбудутся, и судьба огранит их, как тот алмаз, к

которому художник приравнял её сердце... Неутраченные иллюзии...

И вот ещё что очень важно: работы Тоневицкого оптимистичны, всегда со

знаком плюс, обладают положительной энергетикой, отдавая её зрителю,

заряжая его уверенностью. «Соблазн» - в грациозном изгибе тела,

в платье, зовущее это тело обтягивающем, в самом духе напряжённой эротики

она, героиня, парит, уверенная в себе, в разрешимости всех своих амбиций... и

только в уголках глаз таятся сомнение и боль.

воспоминаний, впечатлений, сомнений. Всякий раз, нажимая на спусковой крючок фотокамеры, фотограф дарует нам право

на бесконечность. Момент, когда делается снимок, ввергает нас в лоно Вечности, независимо от нашего происхождения, расовой принадлежности, социального

положения. Это непреложный факт. Подлинный мастер подмечает тончайшие

детали, увлекая нас в путешествие, полное неповторимых характеров и

удивительных судеб. Капли дождя на оконном стекле... Первый

снег... Летящая листва... Туман над рекой... Случайный поцелуй...

Все повторяется вновь, но так, как прежде - уже никогда. Каждый отдельный миг

I’ve recently had more and more interesting to write about the stand-alone artists. Look for people that do not fit into the dominant artdiskurs not complying with the rules of good form, causing a fire on the opposite sides - from accusations of marginalnos to accusations of bias. Most often, these artists do not belong to the mainstream: after all, this strategy is a collective, group, and they are glaring-individualists. Often they do not belong to contemporary art as such. If, according to the convention, this quality implies a permanent move - both on the crest of the main waves - on the cutting edge of new ideas, these artists may well scour the rate to be distracted by unimportant particular, moreover, losing momentum, spinning in place, looking for something his own. Michael Zvyagin - the classic kind of a detached artist. His professional career he began as a painter of textiles, quickly achieving professional success. Today, few remember the subculture of art funds with their orders, advice, and the final product - the state objects, totally, the length and breadth, cultivated by artists and crafts and design arts.New - the main period of work begins Zvyagina in 80 years. обвинений в ангажированности. Чаще всего эти художники не принадлежат

мэйнстриму: все-таки это стратегия коллективная, групповая, а они - вопиющие индивидуалисты. Часто они не принадлежат

и актуальному искусству как таковому. Если, согласно конвенции, это качество

предполагает перманентное движение - как на гребне главной волны - на острие

новых идей, то эти художники вполне могут рыскать по курсу, отвлекаться на несущественные частности, более того,

теряя темп, кружиться на месте, выискивая что-то свое. Михаил Звягин - классический

тип отдельно стоящего художника. Свою профессиональную карьеру он начал как

художник текстиля, быстро добившись профессионального успеха. Сегодня мало кто помнит субкультуру Художественных

Фондов с их заказами, советами и конечным продуктом - государственными

объектами, тотально, вдоль и поперек, возделанными художниками декоративно-

прикладного и оформительского искусства. Новый - главный период в творчестве

Звягина начинается в 80-е годы. Начинается резко, бурно, неожиданно.

Трудно представить, что благополучный пятидесятилетний художник декоративно-

прикладного искусства, живописец, достаточно независимый по отношению к существующим в официальном искусстве

институциям, но вполне вписавшийся в профессиональный контекст, способен на

столь радикальный жест.

Когда вы приходите на какую-либо выставку, вы ожидаете увидеть там нечто, что может или поразить ваше воображение, или заставить задуматься, или, как говорится, «зацепить за душу». Редко случается, когда срабатывают все три компонента. Если же люди попадают не просто на художественную выставку, а на фотовернисаж, многим приходит в голову, что хорошо фотографировать, в принципе, в состоянии каждый – тем более сегодня, когда цифровые камеры доступны практически всем, да и обработке их в «фотошопе», при известном прилежании, можно научить любого. Ведь здесь инструмент - не кисточка с краской, не холст с грунтовкой... Просто лови момент, да вовремя нажимай на спуск. Но, что самое странное – не получается! Два

человека, три, десять могут делать фотографии в одно и то же время, примерно из одной точки, одной фотокамерой - и все эти снимки будут разными... Оказывается, не в инструменте суть, не в умении пользоваться камерой и компьютерными программами, не в знании техники, хотя все это, в конце концов, вовсе не мешает, а, безусловно, помогает. Дело в том, как человек видит то, что снимает, как он чувствует то мгновение, которое «останавливает», как он соотносит себя с предметом, на который нацелена его камера. Короче, дело всего лишь в таланте. И вот здесь можно исписать горы страниц, пытаясь объяснить, как это работает, причем принять участие в этом может и сам фотохудожник, но все эти объяснения, уж поверьте, ни на йоту

не приблизят нас к пониманию этого процесса. Талант, дар Божий – тайна не меньшая, чем сама жизнь. Итак, что мы видим на фотографиях, а вернее, на полотнах Владимира? Прежде всего, это природа. Америка, Швеция, Италия, Россия... Затем архитектура – в первую очередь нью-йоркская... И опять цветы, деревья, реки, небо, облака... Очень редко на его снимках появляются люди, и почти всегда - не в качестве главных героев изображения. Эта деталь много говорит нам о философии художника – для Андреева человек вовсе не является центром мироздания, как для большинства из нас. Для Владимира он – лишь маленькая, существующая на равных с другими, часть огромной и прекрасной картины, написанной Создателем. Той картины, которой художник не устает восхищаться и поклоняться, буквально силой навязывая это восхищение нам, его зрителям, с помощью своей фотокамеры. Даже неискушенному в искусстве человеку ясно, что Андреев и не помышляет конкурировать с Богом - ни путем создания неких фотогомункулусов, как это делает большинство из его нью-йоркских собратьев в поисках новых форм и эффектов, стараясь изо всех сил поразить наше воображение, ни путем выхваченных из жизни сцен, поданных в определенном ракурсе и тем самым наталкивающих зрителя на подсказанную автором идею... Как мне кажется, Владимир вообще не берет в расчет зрителя, не думает о нем, когда создает свои фотошедевры. Зато в них живет то, что напрочь потеряно сегодня большинством художников – страсть! Мощная и зажигающая. Этой почти эротической по накалу чувственностью пронизаны все снимки Владимира Андреева. В следствие чего, кстати, между ними на выставках желательно выдерживать расстояния не менее метра – выплески энергии настолько сильны, что зрителю просто необходим некий пространственный отдых, для того, чтобы успеть перестроить свое восприятие на следующюю работу. Эта страсть, эта не затуманенная игрой ума эмоциональность в искусстве – в Америке, по крайней мере – само по себе уже настолько хорошо забытое старое, что выглядит сегодня, как совершенно новое. В этом - открытие, в этом «эврика» Владимира Андреева. Он возвращает искусство к его истокам, он возвращает человека к первобытному, одухотворенному, обожествленному, чуть ли не языческому восприятию природы. На мой взгляд, такое мирочувствие Владимира подтвердают большинство его снимков, сделанных в городе

– архитектура, безусловная красота того, что сделано руками человека, заметно блекнет по сравнению с тем, что создала рука Творца – в интерпретации Андреева. Его городские пейзажи, за исключением нью-йоркских, часто не несут в себе такого же сильного заряда, как сельские... Ярким исключением, только подтверждающим правило, можно считать абсолютно удивительную работу «В храме», где, опять же, главным героем выступили не люди, не архитектура, а Свет... При том при всем я бы не сказал, что Андреев – религиозный в традиционном смысле этого слова художник... Энергии, которыми он наполняет свои фотографии – земны, теплы и осязаемы. Им было бы тесно в узких рамках цветного слепка с природы, если бы не воздух, в избытке заполняющий любую работу этого художника. Воздух, объем – вы можете называть это как угодно, но факт остается фактом – в фотографиях Андреева живет многомерность реального пространства. Может быть, в данном случае можно установить какую-то связь с русским происхождением Владимира – ведь именно для России характерны большие расстояния, не потревоженные человеческим присутствием. А поскольку Владимир Андреев приехал в Америку человеком, большую часть жизни отдавшим стране, занимающей «одну шестую часть суши», то будет логичным предположить, что творческое его мировоззрение сформировалось еще там, еще до того, как он всерьез стал заниматься фотографией. Но Андрееву недостаточно просто чувствовать пространство, он его к тому же умеет организовывать – это касается выбора точки, с которой он снимает... И здесь надо признать, что Владимир обладает абсолютным чувством композиции – даром, надо сказать, редчайшим. Я не знаю, как он этого добивается: когда фотографирует или когда обрабатывает свои фотографии – но он безошибочно определяет «золотое сечение» изображения. То, что когда-то открыли и научились сложным путем просчитывать древние греки – распределять предметы по плоскости изображения с учетом перспективы так, чтобы у зрителя возникала иллюзия полной гармонии, некоей уравновешенности – Андрееву вручено природой по праву таланта. По этому же праву, видимо, он до такой степени свободно обращается с цветом, что искусства в его работах почти не видно. Что я этим хочу сказать? Зритель еще не успевает полюбоваться красотой линий, игрой цветовых пятен и смыслом того, что изображено, как уже

When you go to an exhibition of any kind, you expect to see something that will excite your imagi-nation, cause you to ponder, or, as they say ‘snag the soul’. Rarely, however, do all three of these experi-ences converge. When people go to an exhibition of photography, many conclude that good photography is possible to do for anybody. Especially today, in the era of digital cameras. Indeed, the digital cam-era is the perfect tool, not a brush in paint facing a primed canvas... just seizes the moment and press the trigger in time. Moreover, the Photoshop com-puter program can be learned by anybody, for the enhancement of each image. But, what is most strange is that it doesn’t work that way. Two, three or ten people can use the same

camera at the same spot and each picture will be different. It turns out that the essence here is not in the actual camera, nor in knowing how to use it, technically, nor in proficiency in using computer image processing, although all of these things are, ultimately, useful. The critical factor is in how the person sees what he is photographing, how he feels at that moment which stops time, how he relates to his subject. In short, it’s a matter of talent. One can generate reams of paper in trying to explain how talent works. But none of this, even with the participation of the artist himself, will draw us closer to understanding this process. Talent is a gift from God - no less a mystery than life itself.

It would be as futile to ‘demonstrate harmony through algebra’ as it would be to try to explain how this unusual, New York based photographic artist, Vladimir Andreyev works, how he starts the creative process, how he develops the work, and how he brings it to its conclusion. One small but important thing must be noted, however. This artist practically never retouches his photographs, preferring to mini-mize or eliminate entirely the intrusion of ‘Photo-shop’ into his work. This tells us something about Andreyev’s artistic method. It would be more fruitful, I feel, to try to under-stand why his photographs, so artless at first glance, make such a strong impact on everybody (without exception, mind you!) who has had even the most fleeting of encounters with his work. So, what do we see in Vladimir’s photographs, or more accurately, his canvasses? First off, nature. America, Sweden, Italy, Russia…then, architecture, primarily in New York. Then, again, flowers, trees, rivers, sky, clouds. Rarely do people appear in his photographs, and seldom as the main subjects. This detail tells us a great deal about the artist’s philoso-phy. For Andreyev, people are not, by any means, the center of the universe, as they are for most of the rest of us. For Vladimir, man is but a small, not at all extraordinary, component of the magnificent picture painted by the Creator. The artist’s awe and reverence for this painting is virtually forced upon us, his viewers, through his use of the camera. Even the photographic novice understands that Andreyev does not wish to compete with God. He does not create ‘photo babble’, as do many of his New York contemporaries, looking for new shocks and effects. Similarly, he does not strive to capture a ‘slice of life’, thus imposing some preconceived idea upon his audience. It seems to me that, overall, Vladimir does not take his viewer into account, does not even think about him when he creates his photo-graphic masterpieces. Moreover, in my opinion, there seems to be a total absence of thought in his work, paradoxical though that may sound. However, there lives in his work something that most artists today have lost -passion! Powerful and inflammatory. Vladimir Andreyev’s pictures are permeated with an almost incandescent eroticism. Because of this great radiance of energy, the works at an exhibition require some three feet of space be-tween them so that the viewer has, so to speak, ‘rest space’ between the works so that he can fully ad-dress each new work as he comes to it. This passion, unclouded by intellectualism in art, in America at any rate, has been forgotten to such an extent that it seems today to be something bright and new. In this lies the discovery, the ‘eureka’ of Vladimir Andreyev. He returns art to its sources. He returns man to his primordial, inspirational, wor-shipful, almost pagan perception of nature. In my opinion, such a sensibility is confirmed in most of his photographs. The pictures taken in New York show the beauty of architecture created by man, which pales by comparison to that which is wrought by the hand of the Creator. His city landscapes are not as powerful as those of nature. One excep-tion only confirms the rule his astonishing ‘In the

Church’, where again, the main focus is not on the people, nor even the architecture, but the light. Despite all of this, I would not say that Andreyev is a religious artist, in the traditional sense. The en-ergies with which he fills his work, earthy warm and palpable, would not fit a color copy of nature were these works not filled with great amounts of air. Call it what you will, the works of Andreyev are alive with great, real spaces. Perhaps we can establish some relationship between Andreyev,s work and his ethnic origin. Great open spaces, untouched by man are characteristic of the Russian landscape. It would therefore be logical to conclude that, since he came to America as an adult, his outlook on life and art was formed before he came here, and before he took up photography professionally. However, it is not enough for Andreyev to simply feel space. He also has a talent for organizing this space, and this refers to his choice of vantage. He has an absolute sense of composition, a talent that is quite rare. I don’t know how he achieves this, whether it is while taking the picture or during its development afterwards, but he unfailingly determines the ‘golden mean’ of his im-age. That which the ancient Greeks discovered and developed by arduous means, the placement of ob-jects on a flat plane to achieve the illusion of perfect harmony and balance, is given to Andreyev by right of talent. By the same right, he is so fluid in his handling of color that artifice in his work is virtually invis-ible. What do I mean by this? Before the viewer has time to admire the lines and colors, and the meaning of what is depicted, he is drawn into the depth of this space bordered by four strips of wood. You feel this wonderfully when you experience Andreyev’s ‘Rose’ series. I don’t feel that we need to thank the master’s education in design at the Fashion Institute of Technology for the created effect. I tend to be-lieve that this ability to immediately grasp the view-er stems from Vladimir‘s past as an actor, and his artistic and musical education before he emigrated. In Moscow, he was graduated from the Gnesin Academy, and, following this, the Institute of Cul-ture. After this he spent twenty-five years on the stage in Russia as an actor and director. In 1992, at the age of forty-five, he immigrated to America where he was reeducated as a computer designer. Here he discovered in himself his gift for photog-raphy. Behind this man is a wealth of experience, not all of it positive. Where, therefore does his virtual naiveté his almost childlike worldview comes from? How can such a combination of experience and fresh wonderment coexist? “This is a great mystery…” “For me, photography is the most unique, and at the same time the most accessible means of express-ing my relationship to the world. Of some 20,000 of my photographs, I regard 150 of them as being of the highest quality,” - said Vladimir Andreyev in an interview in the New York Weekly Russian Bazaar. This man drives himself relentlessly, as do all great masters. Perhaps this is why every year his work be-comes more popular in the United States and in his native Russia. The group “Art of Inspiration • Vladimir Andreyev and His Friends” is an international collaboration among some fifty-six artists and photographers from two countries – Russia and America. The task that these creative people have set for themselves is to maximize the artistic potential of the group who are the bearers of two major cultures, doing this through dialog, and the synthesis of several forms of art. Thanks to the extraordinary organizational talents of the organizer and member of the group, Vladimir Andreyev, the journey of exhibitions of the “Art of Inspiration” has already taken the work of these artists through large and small cities in Russia, and is now successfully emerging in the interna-tional arena. The key to the uniqueness of this group is in its composition. These are photographers and artists who live Russia, Russian artists living in the United States who, while having been assimilated into her culture, maintain cultural artistic ties to Russia, and also American artists, born and raised here. This cultural interplay allows for a wider dialog and cultural exchange and does not pass unnoticed by artisti-cally interested people in both countries. The Russian resident members are selfless in their efforts at organizing the exhibitions there and acquainting the Russian audience with the work of contemporary American artists. It is interesting to note that these exhibitions take place not only in big cities, but also in provincial settings where they evoke a live response and gratitude from the viewers. As for the Russian-American dialog in the United States, the landmark event was the exhibition in December of 2006 at the United Nations, in New York. It is no accident that the name of the group is often taken to men “The Power to Inspire”. As not only members but also active participants in the group, Russian and American artists have the opportunity to learn from one another, to influence each others’ work, and inspire new creative discoveries. For the same reason, there is the interplay between professional artists and amateurs. One of the group’s im-portant goals is to allow original, talented and inspired artists a chance to show their work, even though they may not have had any formal training in the arts. The criteria for membership in the group are the desire for artistic self expression, a creative bent, and a positive attitude. Anybody wishing to join the group must assess his goals and align them with those of the group. First of all, the “Art of Inspiration” is a group of people who are close spiritually. Each member has his own “face”, and creates his own “signature” by following a unique course of creative exploration. Such a person embodies the group’s idea that creativity is a state of love, enlightenment, self-awareness, and meditation. Perhaps, also, there are elements of consolation, self-revelation and prayer. This understanding, specifically, is the unifying force and stimulus for the continued existence of the group and the exhibition of its multifaceted creations.The photographer Mark Norberg has said, “The picture is a way for me to put into images what is sometimes hard for me to put into words. It is a way to carry on a dialogue; to understand and be under-stood.” So it is with the exchange project. What cannot be expressed about New York (and indeed, all of America) in words can be projected visually through photographs and Art. Similarly, their photographs transcend all linguistic and cultural differences, and allow us an unrestricted glimpse into what ordinary thing inspire the Russians and permits us to share their vision. Bringing the timeless power of art to heal and the unique ability of this Russian-American union to play a special role in the communication between people, it seems a natural step to develop a program to sponsor the development of such a unique Russian-American alliance that will financially, morally, artistically support artists in both countries. This alliance will provide a goal in giving that is attainable and create a better understanding among nations that share a common bond, a love of the arts.

Благодаря незаурядному организаторскому таланту основателя и участника группы Владимира Андреева, путь выставок “Art of Inspiration” уже прошел через крупные и малые города России, и в настоящее время успешно выходит на международную арену. Уникальность группы проявляется в ее составе. Это художники и фотографы, живущие на территории России, русские художники, живущие в Америке и ассимилировавшиеся с американской культурой, но близко связанные с культурой и традициями русского искусства, и коренные художники и фотографы США. Этот диапазон взаимодействующих культур способствует более широкому диалогу, обмену культурным опытом, привлекает к себе внимание большого числа не равнодушных к искусству людей в обеих странах. Участники группы, проживающие на территории России, оказывают бескорыстную помощь в организации выставок, знакомя российского зрителя с творчеством современных американских художников и фотографов. Интересно, что выставки проходят не только в крупных мегаполисах, но и в провинции, где экспозиции вызывают живой отклик и благодарность зрителей. Что касается диалога Россия – Америка на американской земле, то наиболее крупным достижением, вехой в деле обмена творческим опытом людей искусства двух стран, стала выставка работ группы, состоявшаяся в декабре 2006 года в здании ООН в Нью-Йорке. Неслучайно название группы воспринимается многими как «искусство вдохновлять». Будучи участниками группы, сотрудничая и общаясь, русские и американские творцы имеют возможность учиться друг у друга, влиять друг на друга, вдохновлять друг друга на новые художественные открытия. По той же причине становится актуальной ситуация сосуществования профессиональных художников и начинающих. Одна из важных задач группы – предоставить шанс проявить себя человеку самобытному, художественно одаренному, исполненному творческого горения, хотя, возможно, и не получившему последовательного художественного образования. Критерий участия в команде – потребность художественного самовыражения, активное созидательное начало, позитивное мировидение. Желающий присоединиться к группе должен осознать, какую цель он преследует, становясь частью целого. Прежде всего, “Art of Inspira-tion”- это группа духовно близких людей. Каждый участник, являясь уникальной личностью, имея свой индивидуальный творческий «лик», творя в русле интересующих его поисков и имея свой особенный, только ему присущий «почерк», выражает общую, определяющую для команды идею: творчество есть состояние любви, просветления, самопознания, медитации, а может, утешения, исповеди, молитвы. Именно это является для группы главным объединяющим началом, стимулом к существованию и проявлению себя на всех творческих уровнях.
