618 Curr Probl Cardiol, October 2001 Dr William W. O’Neill attended Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed his cardi- ology fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. From 1984 to 1987 he was director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the Uni- versity of Michigan Medical Center and an associate professor of Medicine at the University of Michigan School of Medicine. Since 1987 he has been director of the Division of Cardiology at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Under his leadership William Beaumont Hospital has become one of the largest interventional centers in the country, with a par- ticularly active cardiovascular research program. He has pioneered many new and innovative techniques in interventional cardiology and is recog- nized both nationally and internationally for his accomplishments in pri- mar y angioplasty and cardiogenic shock. Dr Simon R. Dixon graduated from the University of Auckland School of Medicine and completed his post- graduate cardiology training at Green Lane Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand. He subsequently moved to Royal Oak, Michigan, to complete a fellowship in interventional cardiology and is currently an attending cardi- ologist at William Beaumont Hospital. His primary research interests include experimental therapies to limit infarct size and distal embolic pro- tection devices during saphenous vein graft inter vention.
