Dr William W. O’Neill attendedWayne State University School ofMedicine and completed his cardi-

ology fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. From 1984 to1987 he was director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the Uni-versity of Michigan Medical Center and an associate professor of Medicineat the University of Michigan School of Medicine. Since 1987 he has beendirector of the Division of Cardiology at William Beaumont Hospital inRoyal Oak, Michigan. Under his leadership William Beaumont Hospital hasbecome one of the largest interventional centers in the country, with a par-ticularly active cardiovascular research program. He has pioneered manynew and innovative techniques in interventional cardiology and is recog-nized both nationally and internationally for his accomplishments in pri-mary angioplasty and cardiogenic shock.

Dr Simon R. Dixon graduated fromthe University of Auckland School ofMedicine and completed his post-

graduate cardiology training at Green Lane Hospital in Auckland, NewZealand. He subsequently moved to Royal Oak, Michigan, to complete afellowship in interventional cardiology and is currently an attending cardi-ologist at William Beaumont Hospital. His primary research interestsinclude experimental therapies to limit infarct size and distal embolic pro-tection devices during saphenous vein graft intervention.
