BEOGABeoga (Gaelic for ‘lively’) is based near the historic city of Belfast in the North of Ireland. A hectic tour schedule has taken Beoga around the globe with stops in Russia, Australia, the United States, and throughout Europe. These have included performances with the BBC Orchestra at The Proms, the National Celtic Festival, the Houston International Festival, Glasgow’s Celtic Connections, and many others. “...dangerous, devious and a downright delight.” - The Scotsman. ETHELCircus!Created in partnership with the archives of The John and Mable Ringling Museum in Sarasota and projection designer/director Grant McDonald, Circus! is a full-evening, multi-media performance inspired by the heroes behind the magic of the Big Top.
DANÚHailing from Ireland’s County Waterford, and winners of the Irish Music Magazine Award and the BBC Award, Danú seamlessly blends ancient Irish music with stunning new repertoire. The group returns to the U.S. in December 2017 with a gorgeous celebration of Christmas from their homeland, A Christmas Gathering, and in March 2018 for St. Patrick’s Day. Hugely popular around the world, The Denver Post called their performance “heavenly.” Schanachie.
ETHEL DocumericaETHEL’s Documerica is a brilliant synthesis of music and imagery from the EPA’s Documerica Photography Archive, which chronicled life in America in the 1970s and, specifically, our impact on the environment. “...rich, provocative and moving.”- The New York Times.
ETHEL & ROBERT MIRABALThe RiverETHEL and Native American artist and GRAMMY® winner Robert Mirabal, present a program inspired by water; in nature, as the embodiment of spirit, and its essential role in life. Using strings, handmade Native American flutes (Tdoop - Pootse) and drums (Mooloo), ETHEL and Robert Mirabal unite to create a cross-cultural and moving concert event.

HOT CLUB OF SAN FRANCISCOThe HCSF captures the virtuosity of Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli, and the original Hot Club de France. No ensemble matches the fire and spirit of that period in world jazz better than the Hot Club of San Francisco. HOT CLUB OF SAN FRANCISCO Cinema VivantContinuing an early 20th century European Gypsy tradition, Cinema Vivant is a captivating concert of silent B&W films scored with live gypsy swing. JULIE FOWLISMusic of the Scottish IslesGaelic singer Julie Fowlis, BBC Award winner and Scottish cultural ambassador, returns to America in the fall of 2017 with her ensemble of virtuoso players. Featured on the soundtrack of the Disney PIXAR film Brave, BBC Radio calls a Julie Fowlis performance “...beautiful messages from another world.” Shoeshine Records, Machair Records, Macmeanmna Records.
MATT HAIMOVITZ Bach Listening Room Bach Suites/A Moveable FeastDaring and original, cellist Matt Haimovitz offers two moving solo programs in 17-18 focused on the cello suites of Bach along with new music by Vijay Iyer, Philip Glass, and others. A winner of the Avery Fisher Award and with acclaimed appearances on every major international concert stage, Matt Haimovitz is an artist redefining the classical music experience. MUCCA PAZZAThe music, choreography, and cheers move from Balkan groove to big band to noise–rock to avant-garde without missing a step. Led by a team of cheerleaders, a Mucca Pazza performance is an experience for the eyes and ears. “Fun in a relentless way.” - The New York Times.
NOBUNTUThis female a cappella ensemble from Zimbabwe has drawn international acclaim for its inventive performances– ranging from traditional Zimbabwean songs to Afro Jazz to Gospel. The ensemble’s concerts are performed with pure voices, augmented by minimalistic percussion, traditional instruments such as the Mbira (thumb piano), and organic, authentic dance movements. Their first American tour is scheduled for fall of 2017. 10th District Music.

TURTLE ISLAND QUARTET Two time GRAMMY® winners, Turtle Island has been a singular force in the creation of bold, new trends in the blending worlds of jazz and chamber music. The featured solo concert for the 17-18 season explores the legend of Charlie Parker. Bird’s Eye View includes music by Parker as well as Sonny Rollins and members of the ensemble. TURTLE ISLAND QUARTET WITH GUEST VIOLINIST/COMPOSER LIZ CARROLLWinter’s EveThe Turtle Island Quartet joins forces with renowned Irish fiddler and composer Liz Carroll for a joyous concert of winter music making. The repertoire evokes visions of a frosty December eve and year-end celebrations from around the globe. Ancient King Wren songs of the Celtic winter solstice and yuletide reels from Ireland reside with tunes of Hanukkah, a Hindu spiritual, and a Miles Davis holiday classic.
