TheFineArtsarealiveandwellinBryan,CollegeStationandthroughout the great state of Texas. From professional toamateur level there are many excellent theater groups,musical companies, orchestras, chamber groups, museums,galleries, artists and craftsmen. If any of these interest you,then you need to join our Arts & Culture group. One of theWomen’sClub’soldestinterestgroups,itwascreatedtofosterin itsmembersanappreciation forandunderstandingof the
fine arts by attending and supporting many artistic endeavors locally and out oftown.Forthe2020-2021yearwehavedevelopedadiverseprogramwitha shortmovie festival, hands-on workshops (painting, origami) and tours of the TAMUHillel,andTAMUGardens.

1)Friday,2October2020,6:30pm.Ashortmoviefestival.PleasejoinusfortheshortmoviehourwithMariaKhmelenko(TAMU,ImmigrationServices for Faculty and Scholars, ISFS). We will watch three condensed storiesabout life and love. Eachmovie is under 20minutes long.Wewill have an opendiscussionafterwatchingallthreemovies.Therewillbetwooptionsforwatchingmovies.Wewillsharethemovielinks2daysbefore the event, so you could watch them on your own.Wewill also share themovie links again through Zoom chat during the event, so everyone couldwatchthemonthedayoftheevent.“Lefty/Righty”,2019.Adivorcedrangerspendsadaywithhisestrangeddaughter.“Semele”,2015.Aschoolnotegivesan11-year-oldagoodexcusetovisitherdistantfatheratwork.“Our Kind of Love”, 2018. Origami is a traditionalJapaneseartoffoldingpaperinto a variety of forms. It isamazing how many modelsonecancreate fromasinglepiece of paper: a bird, aflower, a boat, a frog, abox,and so on. During thisworkshop we will makesome of the mentionedabovemodels. Youwill alsomakesomemodularorigamimodels withmore than onepieceofpaper.Comebyyourselforwithyourchildren/grandchildren,seethebeautifullibrary,andhavefunwithorigami.Theeventisfree.Suppliesareprovided.ThiseventwillbemovedtoZoomifnecessary.Address: 1818 HarveyMitchell Pkwy S. 5)March2021,DateTBD.AtouroftheTAMUHillel.Texas A&M Hillel is oneof the oldest Jewishcampus organizations intheUnitedStates.A state-of-the-art 18,000square foot facilityopened in the fall of2012.TheA.IandManetSchepps Hillel Buildingcontains a beautifulsanctuary,alibrary,a98-seat lecture hall andtheater, separate meatanddairykitchens,andasecond-floorpatiowithapermanent frame forHillel’s sukkah and agorgeous view of thecampusandKyleField.

A tour of the Gardens at Texas A&MUniversityandalunchpicnic.InJune2018TexasA&MUniversityopenedTheGardens.Itisaverywelcomednewattraction intown,and the center for learning, fun, andrelaxation forall loversofnature.On April 15,2021 at 11 a.m.we will have atour of theGardens with ahorticultureexpert. We willlearn aboutplants, insects,and wildlife inthe Gardens,enjoy springflowers andfresh greenery.The tour willtake1-1.5hour.If you have questions aboutwhat to grow in your own flower or vegetable beds,howoften towater your plants or alawn, etc., you will definitely getanswersfromtheexpert!We also reserved the OutdoorClassroom for a picnic lunchafterwards, to give us an extraopportunitytocatchupinabeautifulsetting.
