Are You My Mother?is a musical comedybased on the popularchildren’s book ofthe same name byP.D. Eastman.
While Mother Bird isaway hunting for food,
Baby Bird cracks out ofher shell and finds herself
alone in the nest. But she isnot alone in the forest. A
Construction Worker is in theprocess of clearing trees—and Baby Bird’s tree stands right nextto the bulldozer!
A Woman Protester prevents the steam shovel from knockingdown Baby Bird’s tree, but the tree is shaken and Baby Bird fallsout of her nest.
Alone, just out of the egg, Baby Bird is lost in all senses of theword. She only knows one thing: she must find her mother.
While stumbling through the neighborhood, she encounters Hen,Kitten, and Dog. All three realize that they, too, are lonely.
The animals find that they make more progress towards theirgoals when they join together. With determination—and thehelp of her friends—Baby Bird finally finds her mother.
