Every CfaN campaign brings joy to the Chris-tians in the region. They expect God to do great things and to transform the entire area.

Dear Mission Partners

In this IMPACT we report on the last Great Gospel Campaign of 2010, in Asaba, and the first of 2011, in Lokoja. The two towns are located close to the mighty Niger River.

We had meetings in which the power of the gospel was won-derfully evident. More than 280,000 people made decisions to follow Jesus. The gospel that we proclaim consists not of words only but comes in the power of the Holy Spirit: “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persua-sive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.” (1 Corinthians 2:4-5)

What we experience time and again is that when the cross is preached, a resounding “Amen” can be heard from heaven in the form of signs, wonders and healings.

The archbishop of the Anglican Communion paid us a real compliment while we were in Lokoja. He sat on the platform during the campaign and, leaning over to the Reverend Peter van den Berg, he said, “The thing I love about the ministry of Christ for all Nations is that the gospel is given pre-eminence and preached without apology, and there are few who do that.”

After ten years of ministry (almost exclusively) in Nigeria, we are now setting our sights on other parts of Africa.

Please continue to support us with your prayers and finances – we depend on you.

Yours in Jesus

Evangelists Daniel Kolenda and Reinhard Bonnke

The archbishop of the Anglican Communion with John Darku and Daniel Kolenda in Lokoja.

The River Niger, the third largest river in Africa, is nearly 4,800 kilometres long. The town of Lokoja is situated to the north of Asaba, some 300 kilometres upstream.

A lunatic was set free in Asaba after 15 years of madness. He said that as Daniel Kolenda was praying he felt something come out of his body three times. After the third time, he was in his right mind.

Set free from a curseAn elderly man came onto the stage in Lokaja and told us that he used to be a witchdoctor. When the CfaN cam-paign came to Okene he was born again and healed from a terrible stomach disease. But when he surrendered his witchcraft fetishes to be burned, some of his former “col-leagues” became angry and put a curse on him that left him crippled. Since that time he had been using a walking stick, but during the prayer all the pain left his leg and he discovered that he could walk again without the stick.

An eight-year-old girl who had been deaf and dumb from birth spoke in Lokoja for the first time in her life!

This woman had been deaf for

over 50 years and regained her hearing in Asaba.

She wept as she thanked Jesus for

his mercy.

Ever since he had received a ring from a witchdoctor three years previously, this man had suffered from terrible pain in his body and problems with his eyes. A friend brought him to the meeting in Asaba and after hearing the gospel he took the ring off his finger, brought it forward and threw it into the fire. After the curses were broken, he realised that his pain had gone and his eyes were healed.

A stroke had left this old lady crippled for the past year. Full of joy, she witnessed to her healing.

This woman had been crip-pled in her right leg for the past year and was totally healed. She can now walk perfectly and without pain.

Many thousands of local counsellors are positioned throughout the crowd on the campaign site. They give the new Christians the 32-page booklet “Now that you are saved” and help them to complete a decision card.

The book is distributed free of charge and contains the most important information for the first steps in life as a Christian.

To date, more than 90 million copies in 50 different languages have been printed.

In his welcome speech, the chairman of the preparation committee said, “This Great Gospel Campaign could not have been held at a better time.” He explained that other men of God had retreated from this region be-cause of the powers of darkness. He added that many “Satanic altars” had been built around the town. We really were on the front lines of the battle in Asaba. The enemy pushed us but we pushed back; the gates of hell will not prevail against us!

Right at the start of our cam-paign in Lokoja, while on his way to the campaign

site, Daniel Kolenda saw a spirit-ual picture of a cloud descending on a huge crowd. The CfaN team therefore felt sure that the glory of God was poised to invade this city in an extraordinary way.

a real breakthroughLOKOJA

Daniel Kolenda said, “People need salvation more than anything else – more than education, po-litical ideologies or social pro-grammes. That is why we preach uncompromisingly about repent-ance, restitution and forgiveness. When God has a man’s heart, he has that man entirely and every-thing else falls into place.”

A mighty breakthrough occurred on the fourth day of the Lokoja campaign. A decisive part of what the gospel has in store for us is the infilling with the Holy Spirit. After many thousands had re-sponded to the call for salvation, Daniel prayed for them to receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit fell in mighty power and it was as if the entire place were shaken. “After they had prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.” (Acts 4:31)

Daniel also told us, “As I started to pray for the sick it seemed like suddenly a dam was unblocked and supernatural power began to rip through the crowd. From where I was standing on the plat-form I had a prime view of the amazing spectacle. In one place demons were manifesting. In an-other place the crowd had erupted in praise as crutches were lifted into the air. Healings, miracles and manifestations began to break out on a large scale right across the field.

What we preach really is the gospel of power.”

Lokoja is not far from the confluence of the two main rivers in Nigeria. The Benue, which is 1,400 kilometres long, flows into the River Niger, nearly 4,200 kilometres long.

Daniel Kolenda moves through the crowd of pas-tors and church workers at the Fire Conference laying hands on them and blessing them.

Page 9: asaba_en

It is a unique experience to witness Spirit-filled pastors, missionaries, church workers and wor-ship leaders at the Fire Conference passionately praising the Lord.

Africa is in the news every day at present. The entire continent seems to be on the move. Africa really is in the valley of decision. We at all CfaN offices worldwide would like to call an International Day of Pray for Africa. Please set the day aside as a personal day of intercession at home or perhaps in your church fellowship, too.

Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. Joel 3:14„
