3Introduction to ASAP Methodology
What is ASAP? ASAP stands for Accelerated SAP It is the SAP roadmap for the implementation, enhancements,
or upgrade of SAP solutions ASAP comprises of different roadmaps and flavors In general, ASAP has 6 phases and their names can be different
depending on the type of the roadmap being used

4There Are Three Available Roadmaps
1. Global Template Roadmap V3.6 Used for more complex implementations or harmonization
projects E.g., Global template/global rollouts Covers implementation of the entire SAP Solution portfolio

Best practices for basic project management, functional, and technical aspects to upgrade an entire SAP system landscape

3. ASAP Implementation Roadmap V.8 Known as ASAP 8 There are five flavors of ASAP 8, as follows: Standard ASAP 8 Methodology Agile ASAP 8 Methodology ASAP 8 for Simplified Rapid-Deployment Solution (RDS)
Experience ASAP 8 for Assemble-to-Order (A2O) Project HANA ASAP 8 Methodology
ASAP 8 for Assemble-to-Order is the only ASAP Implementation Roadmap that has only 5 phases. All others have 6 phases.

8ASAP Implementation Roadmap Highlights
ASAP 8 is built on a solid foundation from ASAP 7, with focus on Business Process Management, Application Lifecycle Management, Project Management, and Value Management It also covers traditional areas, such as: Solution management, organizational change management,
training, blueprinting, configuration, testing, cutover planning, and execution, among others
ASAP 8 delivers updated structured and value-added accelerators as follows: Templates, samples and white papers, processes, procedures,
accelerators, checklists, links to standard SAP documentation

ASAP 8 combines the traditional ASAP methodology with the SAP RDS Delivery Methodology and the ASAP Focus Methodology
There are over 200 pre-configured services RDS based on ASAP 8 as part of the SAP Rapid-Deployment Solutions Portfolio
ASAP 8 has new Quality Gate Checklists for traditional and RDS projects Q-Gates ensure that all deliverables have been completed
before moving to the next phase
ASAP Focus Methodology is an implementation roadmap for the streamlined implementation (in 12-14 weeks) of predefined business solutions. It was built from feedback and lessons learned from SAP partners and customers and can be found in Solution Manager.

Standard ASAP 8 Phases
Project Preparation Initial planning and preparation for SAP project
Business Blueprint The main result is the Business Blueprint, a detailed
documentation of the results gathered during requirements workshops
Realization Implementation of all the business process requirements based
on the Blueprint phase. The system configuration is done as part of 2 deliverables: Core Configuration (baseline/major configuration) and Delta Configuration (final configuration/remaining scope). The solution is also tested during this phase.

Agile ASAP 8 Phases (cont.)
Realization Implement all the business process delta requirements defined
during the Blueprint. The team configures, develops, tests, and documents the solution in series of time-boxed iterations the most valuable functionality first. Before the solution is released to next phase, it is fully end-to-end integration tested and accepted by end users.

Split the larger requirements into smaller user stories that can be delivered within a Sprint of 2-4 weeks. A requirement should not take more than 50% of the duration of the sprint as a rule of thumb in Agile.
