Self Evaluation: Performance cum Acheivement Report Trinita has undertaken the programme “Propagating Education through Basic and Higher Education and Empowering Women through Skill Development.” in 5-10 slums of Eastern Kolkata since 2006. The main objective of this project is to mainstream marginalized students in nearby local government school and provide support to continue their education and mitigate school drop-out. The target group selected for this programme are students whose family members are illiterate and their children are the first learner from their family. In most cases the occupation of the family members are Rag pickers, daily labours, domestic workers and rikshaw or van pullers. Fathers of this families are mostly alcoholic, drug abusers and sometimes they are involved with anti- social activities. Thus the parents of the children are not interested of their child’s education. The families here are living in a single tiny room (10-15 sqm) where they live, cook and sleep thus providing no privacy for the girls or woman of the family. In the community they have common toilets which are being shared by 20-25 families on an average. These families also does not get proper water as they collect water from roadside municipality water taps. The financial status of these families are very low and they are not able to provide the money required for the school or tuition of their children. Most of the families are uneducated and thus they cannot guide their children

Self Evaluation: Performance cum Acheivement Report

Trinita has undertaken the programme “Propagating Education through Basic and Higher Education and Empowering Women through Skill Development.” in 5-10 slums of Eastern Kolkata since 2006. Fathers of this families are mostly alcoholic, drug abusers and sometimes they are involved with anti-social activities. Most of the families are uneducated and thus they cannot guide their children properly. Hence their children’s education is not a priority for them. With the School Back up Support programme we have achieved a lot in the marginalized community of these slums. Students of our centre may not get good grades but these children are getting a proper guidance and counseling from us which are letting them:

Empower themselves. Mitigate school drop-out. Avail Kanyashree opportunities and facilities. Control early age marriage.

We would thus conclude that the service which we are providing is very minimum when compared to the whole population of our marginalized society. We are providing our services in 5 slums of the Eastern part of Kolkata India where we are able to reach out to less than 5% of the total marginalized student.

Our achievements may be very less in terms of figures in percentage however the

More than 2089 Non School going Children have been mainstreamed in the Formal School.

More than 1866 Student continue their high school study. More than 223 Students school drop-out students are again continuing their

education. More than 158 students have been admitted to college for graduation. 34 students placed in ITES Company based in Kolkata. More than 145 girls started their own boutique.
