As the L/C editor for the Golden Gate Xpress weekly paper at San Francisco State, I was in a position of authority over a section of six reporters. This experience allowed me to learn how to delegate efficiently, motivate writers effectively, manage conflict and crises, implement decisions, direct discussion, enforce policies, assign deadlines and strengthen my leadership skills. Along with running the lifestyle and culture section, other weekly duties included spending around 20 hours a week attending editor meetings, editing stories, working with InDesign, copy editing pages, fact checking stories as well as devoting the majority of Tuesdays to working on the production of the paper.
Reporter, Golden Gate Xpress: Fall 2015I was the art reporter for the lifestyle and culture section of the Golden Gate Xpress. Here I covered a range of events, issues and profiles centered on the art community. I was consistently named the most productive and dependable contributor in my section, and I never failed to meet to a deadline. I also helped cover stories for the news section and created several multimedia pieces for the publication.

I worked for Abercrombie and Fitch as a sales representative. I always had to remain approachable and engage in friendly customer service with every single customer I met. Other tasks involved working the register, visual merchandising and helping put out new marketing for store promotions. Everyday, the store had a set goal of an amount they want to reach in sales. Each shift, I had to focus on helping the store attain that goal compared to that of the previous year. I also had to help with loss prevention for the store.
Features Editor, OCSA’s Evolution: Fall 2011- Spring 2012During my senior year of high school at Orange County School of the Arts, I was the features editor of the monthly issue of Evolution. In this leadership position, I not only had to write my own stories and edit those of my peers, but also help students find ideas to pitch as well as encourage those who were struggling to succeed. I also worked on polls for paper and the “students on the street” section.
