    TERMS OF REFERENCE

    The Ideas Out of the Box is a competition that encourages young Chinese-Filipino (Tsinoy) volunteers to

    implement new initiatives that address the challenges of co-creating oneness among the ethnic Chinese and

    other Filipinos in our present-day Philippine society.

    This is organized by Kaisa Para Sa Kaunlaran Inc. (Kaisa) and launched during the 4th

    Tsinoy National

    Convention last November 30 December 1, 2012. Seven (7) project ideas were selected from 15 entries.

    Each selected project idea will be provided grant fund amounting to P35,000.00.

    Categories

    The selected project idea addresses one or a combination of the following categories:

    increasing awareness of the shared identity of the ethnic Philippine Chinese and other Filipinos highlighting similarities among Philippine multicultural heritages increasing incomes/income opportunities of underserved sectors improving access of underserved sectors to health, education and disaster management services promoting alternative and sustainable lifestyles for our environment

    Eligible Project Proponents

    Participants of the 4th

    Tsinoy National Convention who are:

    18 40 years old with a Chinese name or studied in a Chinese school resident of the Philippines presently a bonafide member of an eligible organization*

    * Organizations which are eligible are:

    Socio-civic organizations, family associations, or special interest groups Alumni associations of any "Chinese" school in the Philippines Academe-based organizations Student organizations Non-government organizations Faith-based or interfaith organizations

    Mechanics

    1. Proponents of the selected project idea will organize themselves as project team of an eligibleorganization. The team should have at least one (1) Filipino-Chinese or Chinese-Filipino youth who

    meets the above requirements.

    2. The project team shall have one (1) team leader or project adviser. The team leader or projectadviser is also tasked to liaise with Kaisa.

    3. The project should be implemented during the period May 1, 2013 January 31, 2014 only.

    4. The project team will submit the following reports on/before the stipulated dates:a. Project proposal (ref: proposal template) Apr 15 (2013)b. 1st narrative report (for the quarter May July) August 9c. 2nd narrative report (for the quarter August -October) November 8d. 3rdnarrative report (for the quarter November - January) February 7 (2014)e. Final project report February 28

    5. Kaisa will release the grant fund in tranches as follows:a. Upon approval of project proposal 15%b. Upon approval of 1stnarrative report 25%c. Upon approval of 2ndnarrative report 25%d. Upon approval of 3rdnarrative report 15%e. Upon approval of Final Report 15%

    6. The project team commits that any or all information submitted as part of their reports does notinfringe any intellectual property right (including but not limited to, patent, design, copyright or

    trademark) or any other rights of any third party.

    7. Kaisa will request the project teams to share their project results to the public through print, onlinemedia and/or a public forum.

    8. The project teams agree to allow use of each members name, any photographs, images, text,content and other information that it provides for purposes of publicity and education.
