Before using this equipment, obey the following warnings:Read and understand the complete Assembly Manual. Read and understand all Warnings on this machine.

• If this machine is being used in a commercial setting, end users may not have access to this Assembly Manual. It is the responsibility of the facility to instruct users as to the proper usage of the equipment, as well as making them aware of potential hazards.

• Keep children away from this machine. Watch them closely when near the machine. Moving parts that appear dangerous to adults may not appear so to children.

• Consult a physician before starting an exercise program. Stop exercising if you feel pain or tightness in your chest, become short of breath, or feel faint. Contact your doctor before using the machine again.

• Examine this machine for loose parts or signs of wear. Pay special attention to the steps. Contact StairMaster® Customer Service for repair information. Use only genuine StairMaster® replacement parts.

• Set up and operate your StepMill® on a hard, level surface.• Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry while exercising.• Maximum user weight limit: 350 lb. (136 kg). Do not use if you are over this weight.• Keep at least 19 inches (50 cm) clear area around the machine. This is the recommended safe distance for

access and passage around and emergency dismounts from the machine.• Warn bystanders to keep a safe distance, at least 3 feet (1 m). Do not allow anyone to touch the operator

while the machine is in motion.• Do not over exert yourself during exercise. Do not try to exercise with more resistance than you can

physically handle.• When you use an electrical appliance, basic precautions must always be followed, including the following:

DANGER – To decrease the risk of electric shock always unplug this appliance from the electrical outlet immediately after use and before cleaning.

To decrease the risk of burns, fire, electric shock, or injury to persons:

• An appliance must not be left unattended when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in operation, and before you put on or remove parts.

Locate the area where you will assemble and use your SMV-1 StairMaster entertainment TV accessory. We recommend you install it on a hard, level surface. Allow an assembly area of at least 36” (.91m) on each side of the intended product for use. You can move the machine closer to other objects when ready for use. Basic AssemblyFollow these basic assembly tips when putting together your entertainment accessory.1. Collect all the pieces needed for each assembly step. 2. Read through and understand the instructions.3. Turn all bolts and locknuts to the right to tighten, and left to loosen.4. Lightly and carefully lift pieces when attaching. Look through the bolt holes to help guide

the bolt placement.

The following instructions provide direction to assemble the SMV-1 entertainment accessory on a StairMaster SM5 or SC5. All instructions in the manual are given with the orientation of standing on a level surface and facing the back side of the machine.

Step 1: Unpackaging the SMV-1Tools: Box Knife1. Remove all components from packaging and lay out on level working surface.2. Remove 15.6” StairMaster SMV-1 TVNote: The SMV-1 Owner’s Manual and power supply are included in the TV box.

Step 2: Attach iPod docking station (optional)Note: StairMaster offers an optional iPod docking station that can be used with the SMV-1. All required hardware and assembly instruction are included in the iPod docking station box. Please refer to these documents for further instruction.

Step 3: TV and Bracket AssemblyTools: Phillips Head Screwdriver3-1 Lay the TV face down on a flat level

working surface. Lay the TV packaging under the TV to ensure that the TV does not get damaged during assembly.

3-2 Secure TV to bracket using hardware item #4. (See Figure 3A)

Step 4: Mounting the Bracket and TV to the exercise product.Tools: Phillips Head Screwdriver4-1 Remove the console from the mast of the StairMaster

exercise product.4-2 Lay the power/coax cable over the top of the mast.

(See Figure 4A) 4-3 Remount the console and spacer using hardware item #1.

(See Figure 4B) Note: Only insert the top 2 screws as shown in figure 4B. Leave these screws loose. (See Figure 4C) This will make it easier to mount the bracket in the next step.

4-4 Slip on the bracket assembly onto the mast using the 2 loose screws.

4-5 Secure the bracket assembly by tightening the 2 loose screws and adding the final 2 pieces of hardware item #1. (See Figure 4D)

Step 5: Cable Routing5-1 With the bracket and TV securely fastened route the cables as shown between the

front bracket plastic and the bracket. Attach the cable to the 90 degree power fitting and the coax connection. (See Figure 5A) Note: The coax connection only needs to be finger tight. Over-tightening this connection can damage the components. Please refer to the Owner’s Manual if further detail is needed.

5-1 Connect the power cable from the Power Supply to the power connector

located on the bottom cover of the product.5-2 Place the power supply on the floor near an AC wall outlet.5-3 Check that the Input AC Power Rating marked on the power supply matches the

available power.

To reduce the risk of electrical shock, fire and to prevent severe damage to the machine, use only the power supply approved for use with this equipment. In addition, your machine must be properly grounded.

Step 6: Attaching final covers6-1 Secure the TV back plastic using hardware item #3 and #4.6-2 Secure the bracket back plastic using hardware item #4.

Step 7: Final check

Failure to visually check and test assembly before use can cause damage to the equipment. It can also cause serious injury to user and bystanders.
