What they must knowWhat people doM3L1S2
So lets start with a basic definition:
A Job Task Analysis - also called a JTA -- creates a document for a clearly defined job, using a formal process for determining what people do, under what working conditions they do it, what they must know to do it, and the skills they must have to do it. 3Candidates Required to Match Curriculum to an Accepted JTA
Assessor Training
Candidates for Training Program Accreditation, Independent Master Trainer Certification, and Independent Instructor Certification must show evidence that their course content corresponds to at least one IREC ISPQ-accepted JTA and show that, through course content and any prerequisites, that all of the requirements of the JTA are covered.4

Candidates for Training Program Accreditation, Independent Master Trainer Certification, and Independent Instructor Certification must show evidence that their course content corresponds to at least one IREC ISPQ-accepted JTA and show that, through course content and any prerequisites, that all of the requirements of the JTA are covered.
This chart, for example, shows how one candidate might draw the correspondence between their curriculum and the tasks in a JTA for an installer of solar hot water systems. In the matrix , the candidate references the corresponding parts of the curriculum outlined in the course syllabus. In this example, the curriculum outline would also have been included with the candidates application.

In their application, the Candidate must indicate which IREC ISPQ accepted job task analysis was used in developing the curriculum and document how the tasks in the JTA are covered in the the curriculum. The currently accepted JTAs can also be found on the IREC ISPQ website.10

In addition to the information about tasks and subtasks required to safely and effectively perform a job, it is strongly recommended that IREC ISPQ-accepted Job Task Analyses contain information about the criticality, or relative importance of these tasks. You can use criticality as a tool when available, to ensure that Programs are spending enough time training students on what the experts tell us are the most important tasks versus those that are not as critical.11

For example, in a curriculum based on this Small Wind JTA, you would expect more time to be spent teaching students how to identify whether a site is suitable for a wind system, than on identifying opportunities to incorporate energy efficient equipment or appliance. Both tasks need to be covered in the curriculum, but to varying degrees.12

Candidates are not required to use a JTA that has already been accepted by IREC ISPQ in developing their curriculum. However, to undergo the assessment process, the JTA they used must be submitted to IREC for acceptance:It must clearly define the job Identify all tasks and subtasks required for competent performanceIt must follow well accepted procedures for occupational analysis with review and validation by Subject Matter Experts , called SMEs The JTA development process must also reflect balanced involvement of stakeholders and other interested parties to safeguard impartiality13TRUE or FALSE?
In their application, the candidate must indicate which IREC ISPQ accepted Job Task Analysis was used in developing the curriculum and include the JTA and its correspondence to the curriculum.
