How true this is in the events initiated, planned and implemented by so many of you who take active parts in the Assumption Alumnae Association. As your Moderator, I marvel at how during the meetings, you all talk at the same time and yet, the end product goes beyond the planning! Your Assumption Spirit surely warms the hearts of our Mother Foundress as well as the Mothers and Sisters now watching you from heaven. Of course, those of us who are with you today, are more than consoled for the hard work and perseverance we exerted in the years gone by. DEO CRATIASI This is meant to be a message, so here goes. Today, October zoth, we celebrate WORLD MISSION SUNDAY. St. Marie Eugenie of Jesus tells us that every person has a mission on earth, that this earth is a place of glory for COD. What is THIS MISSION THAT lS OURS AS ASSUMPTION ALUMNAE? Today's liturgical readings tell us the answer. St, Paul in his letter to Timothy (3:t4) says: " Belov ed, remain faithful to what you have learned and believed, because you know from who you have learned it..." What has ASSUMPTION EDUCATION taught you70,60, 50, 40,30,25 years ago? St. Paul continues (z Timothy 4:z): t charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead...proclaim the word; be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient; convince, reprimand, encourage through all patience and teaching." There you are! During this time of CRISIS lN OUR COUNTRY, let us be courageous to think, speak and act according to the TRUTH that COD has planted in our hearts. Only the Truth can set us freel When the situation seems hopeless, we have recourse to PRAYER, hence Our Lord JESUS CHRIST Himself tells us in today's Cospel reading (Luke t8:t) of the necessity to pray always without becoming weary. One with each one of you in FAITH, HOPE and LOVE, Sister Estela celebrated her 5oth anniversary as an RA in 2012. Now a few weeks shy of her 75th birthday, she remains passionate, committed. How blessed we are to have as Moderator an authentic witness of Christ's love, first in the Luneta to rally against injustice and corruption, a "pricker-of- conscience", an enthusiastic cheerleader, a Ioving friend.
