1 Introduction This document provides lists of the asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) links and LAN connections in RNC2600. Lists of ATM links include Switching Fabric Unit (SFU) ATM links lists and Multiplexer Units (MXU) ATM links lists in RNC2600.

For more information on the configurations and equipment of the RNC2600, see Equipment Lists for RNC2600, Cable Lists for RNC2600, and WCDMA RNC2600 Engineering Description.

1.1 ATM links

SFU ATM links The ATM SFU provides the ATM cell switching functionality. It provides 2N redundancy. And it is non-blocking at ATM connection level, which means if input and output channel are available the connection can be established. The ATM SFU supports point-to-point and point-to-multipoint connection topologies, as well as differentiated handling of various ATM service categories. High capacity network interface units and ATM Multiplexer units are connected to the redundant SFU.

In RNC2600, SFU is implemented in plug-in unit SF20. SF20 provides 32 duplicated ATM ports (622 Mbit/s).

MXU ATM links The ATM MXU multiplexes traffic from tributary units to the SFU. This enables the efficient usage of switching resources for low bit rate network interface units and computer units with small to moderate bandwidth requirements. The ATM MXU also has ATM layer processing functionality, such as policing, statistics, OAM, buffer management and scheduling. Control computers, signal processing units and low bit rate network interface units are connected to the ATM SFU via MXU.

In RNC2600, MXU is implemented in plug-in unit MX1G6-A. MX1G6-A provides 19 ATM ports (0-155 Mbit/s).

1.2 Notations used in the lists of SFU ATM links

The table of SFU ATM links covers two SFUs: SFU 0 and SFU 1. SFU is 2N redundancy unit. The FU can connect to SFU via either SFU variant. The Note column applies to both SFUs. Table 1. Columns in the list of SFU ATM links

The three main columns are:

• SFU port no.: It indicates the index number of the high speed port (0-31).

• Connection from and Connection to: They indicate the connection source and destination. In position string, first number indicates the cabinet: 1 indicates cabinet A and 2 indicates cabinet B. Second number indicates the subrack: 1-4 indicate subrack 1-4. Third number indicates the slot: 1-19 and 38 indicate slot 1-19 and slot 38. The left part indicate the pin row. For example, 1.1.1.B71D/B0, it indicates cabinet A. subrack 1. slot 1. pin rows 1-125.

The sub-columns for the Connection to are:

• Functional Unit: It indicates the Functional Unit (FU) name with index number, for example, OMU 0.

• Plug-in unit: It indicates the name of the plug-in unit which can be used.

1.3 Notations used in the lists of MXU ATM links

Each table of MXU ATM links covers two MXUs as MXU is 2N redundancy unit. The FU can connect to MXU via either MXU variant.

• Subrack 1 and Subrack 2: They indicate the number of the subrack in the RNAC cabinet.

4 LAN connections The chapter provides a list of the LAN connections of SWU in the RNC2600.

There are LAN connections from the Operating and Maintenance Units (OMU) and OMS and from all network interface units (NPGEP/NPS1P) to SWU (ESA40-A). SWU can be optionally duplicated. Additionally, SWU requires the inclusion of address setting modules. There are two types of address setting modules, cabinet and subrack. Both SWUs need one cabinet address module and one subrack address setting module.
