Birthdays!Weknowthatcelebratingyourbirthdaywhenyou’reachildisabigdealandmanychildrenliketocelebratewiththeirfriends.However,itcanbeveryupsettingforchildreniftheyarenotinvitedtoparticularbirthdaycelebrations,asitcanleavethemfeelingveryleftout.Thereforeweaskthatparentsdonotbringininvitationsforbirthdaycelebrationsforchildren(orstaff)togiveoutinschool,unlessthewholeclassisinvited.Stillonthesubjectofbirthdays,weofcourselovetoacknowledgeachild’sbirthdayatschoolbutunfortunatelywecannotacceptlarge

birthdaycakes,candlesorpartybagstogiveoutinschool.Ifyourchildwouldliketoshareabirthdaytreatwiththeclassthentheymightliketogiveoutindividual(nutfree)cakesorhealthytreatsattheendofthedayforthechildrentoeatafterschool.Pleasedonotsendinlargecakesthatrequirecuttingaswecannotdothisinclass.Thanksforyourunderstanding.

NewsfromY4,Y5&Y6It'sbeenanotheramazingfewweeksforusallhereinKeyStage2.AllofthechildrennowhaveaccesstotheirownTimesTableRockstarsaccountsandtherereallyhasbeenabuzzaroundtheplaygroundabouthowfastthechildrencancompletetheircalculations.Afewhaveevenbegunchallengingtheteachingstaff!AllofthechildrenhavealsobeenparticipatingintheNationalGallery'sTakeOnePictureartprojectwhichthisyearisbasedonanartworkbyartistGeorgeBellows.Allofthechildren'sworkwillbedisplayedataspecialexhibitionintheWirstweekbackafterhalftermsopleasedokeepyoureyesopenfordetails. NewsfromNurseryandReceptionInEYFSwe’vereallyenjoyedbeingpartoftheNationalGallery’sTakeOnePictureProject.We’vebeenlookingat

andlearningaboutGeorgeBellow’spainting‘MenoftheDocks’andeachclasshascreatedtheirownpieceofworkrepresentingpartofthepainting.NurseryfocusedonthebuildingsandbackgroundwhileReceptionRandDfocusedontheboats.Bothreceptionclasseshavereallyenjoyedlearningaboutavarietyofboatswiththefavouritesbeingatugboatandsubmarine!ThispaintinghasreallysupportedlotsofcreativeworkacrossEYFSthisweekandwecan’twaittoshowyouwhatwe’vebeenupto.KeepaneyeoutonTapestryforsomesneakpeaks. SportsNewsThisweektenchildrenfromYears3&4attendedtheLewishamBoroughFootballtournamentatStDunstan’sJubileeGrounds.TeamAshmeadtookpartinaroundrobincompetitionalongsidethirtyotherteamsfromtheborough.Withinourdivisiongroupwetookpartinfourgames;winningtwoandgainingthirdplacewithinourgroup.Welldonetoallwhotookpart.ThroughoutthedaythechildrenwererecognisedbytheSportLeadersfortheiramazingskillsandteamwork!NextweekchildrenfromYears5&6willtakeplaceintheLewishamGirlsFootballcompetitionandhavethechancetoprogresstotheLondonYouthGames.Abigthanksagaintoallofourparentvolunteerswhohavesupportedoursportingtripsthisyear.Wearecurrentlystilllookingforvolunteersforourgirlsfootballtripon14thFebruary(9.15am-3.30pm)PleaselettheofHiceknowifyoucansupportuswiththiscompetition.RachelAzra

NewsfromY1,Y2&Y3ThisweekwehaveallbeentotallyimmersedinGeorgeBellow'spaintingMenoftheDocksfortheTakeOnePictureproject.Y1Ewereinspiredbylearningabouttheworkersinthepaintingandlookedattradeintheareaatthetime.TheclassusedmodroctocreatetheirWinalproductaftercreatingpencil,penandwatercolourdrawingsofWish.Y1Astudiedtheemotions,feelingsandexpressionstheyhadinresponsetothepaintingandmadesomephotocollages.ThechildreninY2pickedoutsomeoftheirfavouritepartsofthepaintingandexploredthesethroughdifferentmediums-paintchalk,charcoalandcollage.Y3havebeenlooking

atcityscapesandskyscrapers.Theymadetheirownskylineprintusingfoamandtheresultsareamazing!
