My name is Mario Perez, I am born and raised in Los Angeles, California where I work and play here. My studies and my work have help me to pursue my goals in working with many types of areas of my profession. I am in the verge of changing my milestones and become the first in my family to have a degree.

This includes assessing each student, collecting

data, writing the plan in conjunction with teachers and the school psychologist, and evaluating the effectiveness of the plan. Responsible for designing behavioral strategies such as DTT and ABA practices for children as an intervention ahead of the

official formation of a behavioral plan.

Behavioral specialists are also responsible for writing Individual Education Program (IEP) in cooperation with teachers and other special education staff. They attend IEP meetings with staff and parents.

 A large part of a behavioral specialist's job is filling out paperwork. As special education is governed by several laws and

mandates, you must be familiar with these statutes and follow them appropriately. Behavioral specialists are required to understand the characteristics of a wide range of intellectual disabilities as well as

disorders such as autism and traumatic brain injury. In some situations, behavioral specialists are called on to lead group counseling sessions with students struggling with various

social-emotional issues or during times of high stress, grief or crisis.  

Reflection

When I began at Argosy, my goal was to make the best of my education and work with the best professionals in the field. My weaknesses are to have the right tools to be a student, to have time to work on my studies and the funds to make my goal happened. My strengths are that I am patient and make time for any stress from my day.
