Commit, Commit, Commit! – Throughout the fall months, I will be preaching frequently on our commitment to Christ and to each other. In fact, I’ve become more and more convicted lately that we treat our faith too privately and individualistically. When we privatize our faith in Christ, then we dampen evangelism, missions, and commitment to the local church. Christianity then becomes the religion of “me and mine.” With the coming of a new school year and a new season, let’s be mindful and prayerful about ways we can live out publically and corporately the word of God! One of the easiest ways to commit is through regular Sunday School and worship aendance. e Lord is blessing us with new members almost every Sunday, and your presence not only encourages these people, but it gives them a paern by which to live out their newly found faith. Remember, discipleship is the job of the entire church, not just a select few or a commiee. Consider also committing to Free 8 th and the new Backyard Bible Club at Fort Concho Elementary. Free 8 th begins for all CFC students on August 29 and continues each Tuesday until the end of the fall semester. e only prerequisite required for volunteers is that you show love to freshmen students! e new Backyard Bible Club will start September 21. Please also commit to our mid-week services for great spiritual nutrition. Let’s just be honest, I oſten hear excuses from church members about foregoing fellowship and Bible study on Wednesday night. We certainly understand tight work schedules and unavoidable calendar conflicts, but we have the most cost effective and wonderful family meal in town from 5-6pm, followed by living water from the Word taught from 6-6:45pm. ere are activities and ministries for your kids, as well. e more we commit to the Body of Christ during the week, the more we will be equipped to share our faith publicly. We miss you on Wednesday nights, and we’re a beer church when you’re here! Thanks to those who committed already much of their time this summer to two great endeavors. First, let’s say “thank you” to everyone who led and participated in the Kids Eat Free program. Great job, folks! Second, a special word of thanks goes to all who helped in any way with the luncheon for educators and staffs of both CFC and Ft. Concho schools. C o m m i t , C o m m i t , C o m m i t !

One of the easiest ways to commit is through regular Sunday School and

worship attendance. The Lord is blessing us with new members almost every Sunday, and your presence not only encourages these people, but it gives them a pattern by which to live out their newly found faith. Remember, discipleship is the job of the entire church, not just a select few or a committee.

Consider also committing to Free 8 th and the new Backyard Bible Club at Fort Concho Elementary. Free 8th begins for all CFC students on August 29 and continues each Tuesday until the end of the fall semester. The only prerequisite required for volunteers is that you show love to freshmen students! The new Backyard Bible Club will start September 21.

Please also commit to our mid-week services for great spiritual nutrition. Let’s just be honest, I often hear excuses from church members about foregoing fellowship and Bible study on Wednesday night. We certainly understand tight work schedules and unavoidable calendar

conflicts, but we have the most cost effective and wonderful family meal in town from 5-6pm, followed by living water from the Word taught from 6-6:45pm. There are activities and ministries for your kids, as well. The more we commit to the Body of Christ during the week, the more we will be equipped to share our faith publicly. We miss you on Wednesday nights, and we’re a better church when you’re here!
