The Dormition of our Most Holy Lady the Theotokos and Ever Virgin
Mary
ENTRANCE HYMNS Resurrectional Apolytikion – Katelisas to Stavro
(“By Thy Cross Destroyed”) O Death didst Thou destroy by Thy Cross.
Thou opened Paradise to the Thief and the laments of the
myrrhbearers didst Thou change and to Thine own Apostles command
them to announce that Thou had risen O Christ our God, Who gives to
the World Thy Great Mercy. Apolytikion for the Feast – En ti
Ghennisi (“In giving birth”) In giving birth you retained your
virginity, and in dormition you did not forsake the world, O
Theotokos. You were translated unto life, being the Mother of Life.
And thus by virtue of your intercessions you deliver our souls from
death. Seasonal Kontakion – Tin en presvies (“Unsleeping in
intercession”) The Theotokos, unsleeping in intercession * and the
immovable hope of protection, * could not be retained by any tomb
or death. * For being Life's own Mother, she was transferred to
life by Him * who dwelt in the ever-virgin womb.
Epistle Reading The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the
Philippians 2:5-11
My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my
Savior.
Verse: For he has regarded the humility of his servant.
Brethren, have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ
Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count
equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself,
taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
And being found in human form he humbled himself and became
obedient unto death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has
highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above
every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in
heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

GOSPEL READING The Gospel According to Luke 10:38-42,
11:27-28
At that time, Jesus entered a village; and a woman called Martha
received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who
sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was
distracted with much serving; and she went to him and said, "Lord,
do you not care that my sister has left me to serve you alone? Tell
her then to help me." But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha,
you are anxious and troubled about many things; one thing is
needful. Mary has chosen the good portion, which shall not be taken
away from her." As he said this, a woman in the crowd raised her
voice and said to him, "Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the
breasts that you sucked!" But he said, "Blessed rather are those
who hear the word of God and keep it!"

The Philoptochos Poor Box benefits the family of Elisa
Campos.
The Ladies Philoptochos Society recently added a Poor Box in the
Narthex to help fund its mission to aid those in need. Donations
made to the Philoptochos Poor Box for the months of July &
August benefit the family of Elisa Campos, one of Collegeville
Diner's favorite waitresses. Never would you guess that this mom of
4 kids has a very sick child, Leila, who has been undergoing
extensive testing & treatment in preparation for brain surgery.
Leila, a beautiful 19-year-old girl with the voice of an angel, has
been treated at CHOP for a seizure disorder since she was a child.
She is currently attached to electrode sensors waiting for her next
seizure in order to map out how much of her brain will need to be
operated on. As Leila anxiously waits, her mother Elisa works to
support the family, juggling her time off between managing Leila's
treatment and caring for her other children. The stress has been
overwhelming but Elisa still shows up for everyone, every day, with
a smile on her face. In lieu of donating to the managed GoFundMe
account, Philoptochos will purchase grocery gift cards with the
donated funds to help ease the family’s burden. You may send checks
to the church to the attention of Philoptochos/Poor Box Donations
or donate at

for your support!
