I read this quote in the

Chapter Presidents

Procedures Manual that I

received from PAF.

The Merriam-Websters

Dictionary defines

volunteerismas the act or

practice of doing volunteer

work in community service.

Dictionary.com defines

volunteeras a person who

voluntarily offers himself or

herself for a service or

undertaking; a person who

performs a service willingly

and without pay.

I did a lot of thinking about

this quote and these two

words, and used them to

analyze, according to my

own perceptions, not only

where our association

stands but also its

relationship to PAF. I

started paying attention to

PAFs and BPAs Board of

Directors discussions and

decisions in different

circumstances and scenarios

and came to the conclusion that

we are a great bunch.

I felt it was appropriate and

important to convey this to you

because often members dont

have the opportunity to know

what happens behind the

scenes. What you see from the

outside is a reflection of hard

work done with one thing in

mind: to always accomplish what

is best for the Association(s).

We are all volunteers; and we do

what we do because we care.

We care about our profession

and we care about our

association(s).

If you only knew how your Boardand Committees work well

together, you would be

impressed.

As I mentioned in the July edition

of the Pipeline, Ashley and I

attended PAFs Orientation

Meeting in Orlando on June 25th.

If you asked me to state in one

word what impressed me the

most about PAF, the one word

would be: competence. The

women I (we) met wereseasoned and professional.

I left the meeting grateful to

know that what I felt about BPA

(working well together) is also

true about PAF.

In the spirit of volunteerism, I

want take this opportunity to

announce to you that BPA will be

hosting PAFs fall seminar in

2014. This decision was made at

the orientation meeting

previously mentioned. Soo

we will be putting together

committee so BPA can be

prepared in advance for thi

task. I ask you to start

thinking about how you can

help us.

Attorney Timi Tucker is our

guest speaker on the topic

of changes in the child

support statute and ethical

concerns about filing

modifications. Mrs. Tucker

Timi Tucker founded the

Melbourne family law firm in

2004. One of her greatest

strengths is providingaggressive, knowledgeable

cases. Mrs. Tucker has an

outstanding track record with

18 years experience and is

primarily focused on

representing clients in divorce,

dependency, injunctions, and

family law matters.

Mrs. Tucker has tried over 20

cases to jury verdict, and has

practiced in front of every

Judge in Brevard County. She

is a former Florida Department

of Children and Families

Senior Prosecutor and served

as the Director of Brevard

County Legal Aid from 2002 to

2004.

Mrs. Tucker is admitted both

the Florida and Kentucky Bars.

She received her B.S. from

Cumberland College in 1989

and her JD from the University

of Kentucky College of Law.

Mrs. Tucker is the President-

Elect of the Brevard County

Bar Association, a member of

the Kentucky Bar Association,

a Past President of the

Brevard County Bar

Association Young Lawyers

Divisions and serves on the

Board of Directors of the

Make-A-Wish Foundation.
