August 2012 Updates:
Hahgoot’s Updates, part 2
Hahgoot has been enjoying the Art Box class at the gallery very much.
They made really funky masks!
She made watercolour drawings of cartoon characters (such as Angry Birds and Sonic) and a cute picture
frame at a Sunday Kids Club workshop
Hahgoot enjoyed the units of work in the BJE about Rosh
Hashana and really got into the ideas of Yom Kippur.
The origami shofar was a big hit!
We read together the book “You Are a Social Detective: Explaining Social Thinking to Kids”
By Michelle Garcia Winner and Pamela Crooke, and Hahgoot was very interested.
We started using the book’s vocabulary (about using expected and unexpected behavior) right
away at home and I have to say there has been a huge positive impact on Hahgoot’s
behavior.
Her class teacher liked the book too and has been reading it to the class in instalments.
The kids seem very interested so far (the comics like drawings help too...)
Hahgoot’s friend from Haifa, Noam, sent her
a letter in a special code. She translated it
and then used the same code to send
him a reply.
Great idea!
Hahgoot spends a lot of time playing on her own (and with Alma – there has been much progress with
their positive communication)
She comes up with many interesting stories and sometimes interesting constructions, like this detailed
farm (top), including names for the animals!
