Hi Katydids,
Here it is August and what a fun and busy month it will be! Last Friday, August 5th, we were “dark” so we could dance at the Fair. There were fifteen Katydids who showed up. A lot of you will be enjoying root beer floats as you are reading this, courtesy of Morris Hosoda on Friday, August 12th.. Coming on Friday, August 19th will be our Hot August Night Dance and used square dance clothes/shoe sale. See our flyer or ask Maxine for more information. Then our Pizza Party at Eric and Jacky Wilhelmsen’s home is on Saturday, August 27th. See them to sign up to bring something and pick up a flyer.
The Katydids are now on Facebook. You can go to “Katydids Square Dance Club” on Facebook and add your pictures and comments there on our Facebook page.
As I have asked in past Chirpers, does anyone have any suggestions about changes that we can make to make the club better?
I am including the full list of calls (see pg 9) from basic thru plus to allow you to see what level each call is.
Food Pantry’s Needs:
I would like to thank everyone who has donated to the Campbell United Church of Christ Food Pantry. Faith King is very appreciative. They will take any Canned Meats, Canned Dinners, Canned Beans, Hearty and Condensed Soup, Peanut Butter, Jam, Jelly, Cheese Cracker Snacks, Canned Vegetables, Individual and Family Size Applesauce, Canned Fruit, Cold Cereal, Crackers, Individual and Family Size Juice, Tea, Coffee, Bottled Water, Toothpaste and Toothbrushes, Shampoo and Conditioner, Safety Razors, Toilet Paper, Sandwich Size Plastic Bags, They also appreciate receiving clothing and shoes for all sizes, from kids to adults. Bring anything you want to donate on Friday Night and I will deliver the items on Tuesday. Faith meets me in the parking lot when she sees me drive in. She is so thankful for everything that I have delivered from our Club.

Where is the the most expensive place to live in?
Last month: The Atacama Desert ...The 600 miles of South America's Atacama desert is recorded as the driest place on Earth, no contest. This desert has an average of only 4 inches of rain every hundred years. Incredible, but true.

Life Puzzles of Members & Friends…Nice to hear from past Katydoer Alan Fanning who has been visiting off-and-on but because of his illness it is unpredictable. He is on chemo treatment and the stamina to dance at club level is hard so as not to lose any square dancing skills he had learned, Alan has been attending Beaus and Bows class whenever he can. His daughter was in town to take him for one of his treatment and brought with her Alan’s third grandchild (a girl) who was born on Easter morning.
Keep up the good fight, Alan, and we will do our partwith prayers…
!
Louise Hosoda continues to regain her weight and strength by vigorously following her physical therapist’s instruction and carefully monitoring her food intake. She now tips the scale at 102.5 lbs…Marie Travelstead has been out for about 4 weeks because she has been having trouble with her back and hip. Her doctor ordered her not to square dance for a while. We agree, Marie, to follow your doctor’s orders, your health is paramount, so take care but if you can drop in for a visit and have a ROOT BEER FLOAT…Perhaps a little bit of explaining is required when some members were treated royally on our Friday Birthday Greetings. In July we had three members with their birthdays falling on that FRIDAY so they were treated with a little more LOL. Your turn will come. My boo boo was not recognizing Pat Angotti as the provider of those delicious birthday cakes. She is getting a lot of practice in trying to write those messages on the cake with icing…I must report that we had lost several past Katydid dancers and friends of Katydids recently known to me: Clif Fraser, Mary Kay Sherman and Bud Johnson.
